We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brigitta Hoeferle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brigitta below.
Brigitta, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I’m Brigitta, and no, it is not an English name. I’m originally from Germany. I grew up in a small little village of 600 people in southern Germany surrounded by vineyards. Actually most of my friends’ parents were vintners. I grew up in an absolute beautiful countryside and I couldn’t wait to get the heck out of there fast enough! In the village, so the stories of my mother, I was always the leader of the Kindergartner kids pack. I loved life at age 5 and life loved me back! And that story was true until I went to middle school. I struggled. I was bullied. I hated school. I hated my teachers I hated my classmates (the ones I was supposed to consider friends) and I hated myself.
I was overweight, I was disliked and when I realized that there is only ONE person that can change that whole “victim” mindset, I started working hard on gaining a better frame of mind about myself. That’s when I started walking the vineyards – up and down, first huffing and puffing and then getting leaner, conditioning myself to better cardio, feeding myself better nutrition and books to support my personal growth. The two first books that had a tremendous impact on me were “Emotional Intelligence” by Daniel Coleman and “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.
So, Fast forward 20 years, I hold two degrees and work for a big publishing house in Munich, but I did not like the work environment. So, I changed the narrative again of my life, because there is only one person in control of my happiness! And that is myself!
So, I decided to move to the US with my husband and our 18 month old baby girl. We came to the US in 2004 to build a Montessori school, on our own dime (I had no “sponsors” or “corporations” that funded my move or my endeavors) and my own time (I didn’t know if I was going to succeed) at my own risk (my husband was in for the ride, but he did not want anything to do with the school, he said: “that’s your thing – you have the qualifications.)
Why a Montessori School, you ask? To soothe my own inner child, but most importantly, for the love of my own children – I wanted them to have a different experience of school life and a more positive learning experience than I did.
Through the process of crossing cultures, building a business as a young businesswoman that came from a different country, I learned a lot.
I received great feedback on the “things to do or not to do” and “things to say or not to say”. My growth was tremendous and over the years I learned that learning is fun! And out of that came one of the most important lessons that became a law that I teach now: “There are no failures, only feedback!”
This frame of mind and mindset and my rapid growth by implementing the learned tools lead to my success today.
As I invested large six figured numbers into my personal growth, my business development and my staff development, I was also scouted to be one of the fast-tracked female trainers for the largest self development company in the world. I was invited to be a lead coach for that same company and out of that more opportunities arose and opened up for me, my businesses and my family.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an eager student, always ready to implement my learnings and wisdom.
So, The Center of NLP was the beginning of an incredible journey providing powerful and ethical communication tools and instruments (and that dates way back to the time when I learned this powerful accredited methodology myself – decades ago). To give you a very brief tour of my 20 year “overnight success”: as I was scouted to speak from the large global stages, my mentor of the Center reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to buy The Center, established in 1986. When I took over, The Center of NLP offered three courses: The entry level practitioner course, the master practitioner course and the trainer course. Within 2 years, I established a solid curriculum for ongoing trainings for business owners to increase revenue by speaking their clients language, to corporate trainers, sales teams and HR professionals and in individuals that realized that if they want love, joy, happiness, success – it starts with them!
Our courses are accredited and overseen by recognizable and credible large organizations and we are on a mission with The Center of NLP to cut out the misconception that a fabulous communication is a manipulation tool – it is FAR from that, but some people do misuse it for their own egocentric goal of fame and greed.
The only difference of impact and manipulation is intention. That’s it. And The Center of NLP’s intention is one of a WIN/WIN/WIN: a win for you, a win for me and a win for the greater good.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
I have built businesses from scratch and I have bought businesses. It’s a lengthy, one might call it, tedious process. But the more tedious and specific the better! It bought The Center of NLP, not because I was looking for another business to buy – I was sought out to carry on the torch and be a tool for humanity!
We looked at all the business documents, agreed on a price and involved powerful and knowledgeable experts that led me through that process.
It was worth the extra thousands of dollars! We went from 3 courses with only a few participants to a multitude of courses with engaged clients that are carrying on the mission of the business! We went from low 5 figure income as we assumed the operations of the business to a very high 6 figure annual revenue within 20 months. Through the pandemic our revenue tripled and all due to the clear vision, the authentic leadership and the strong desire by our participants to belong, learn and grow.
Today, I have a company that oversees my monthly and quarterly business documents, meetings, minutes and resolutions. This company is my advisor and keeps my records and documents straight and clear.
I have created deeply rooted time ownership strategies within my business which allows me to do what I love and do best:
be there for my family, my clients and my students.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a German-born business woman, the lesson I had to unlearn was: I have to be strong in everything I do and do it all by myself! That was a hard lesson to learn and thank goodness I was able to learn it in time, before I came to a burnout!
German women are known to be strong, hardheaded and self-reliant. I come from a household of very strong, independent business women: my mother, my grandmother, my two sisters – they all created empires.
I am grateful to have learned so many valuable lessons, where the most valuable lesson is: create a strong team and delegate!
And YOU can, too!
