T’Quondra , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Que by Quon Candle Co. is all about me! My company name is a combination of my nicknames Que and Quon so essentially the products are me by me. All of the products are handmade and are a reflection of the positive vibes that radiate when I am making products. When making products I am able to be uniquely and unapologetically me. I absolutely love what I do!

My name is T’Quondra Harris and I am the Owner of Que by Quon Candle Company. Like many other businesses, Que by Quon Candle Co. started at the height of COVID-19 during quarantine. As a way to combat boredom, I began exploring different arts and crafts activities. After going through quite a few projects, I found a candle-making kit. I made a few candles and found that I really enjoyed making them and loved the calming feeling I felt while making candles, I became obsessed and found myself ordering more and more candle-making supplies. Shortly thereafter, I decided to make candle-making a business, and Que by Quon Candle Co. was born. As I began researching other products to add to my business, I started making body sugar scrubs, whipped soap, and bar soap making Que by Quon Candle Co. a complete home essential and body care company.
The mission of Que by Quon Candle Co. is to create positive vibes one fragrance at a time! I offer hand-crafted home essentials and body care products for everyone! I make everything from dessert candles, and themed holiday candles to luxury candles. You name it, I can probably make it into a candle. I also made moisturizing, luxurious hand-crafted body sugar scrubs, whipped soap, and bar soaps that smell delicious and focus on keeping the skin healthy, moisturized, smooth, and supple. All of our products are made in small batches to ensure the utmost quality and of course, they are made with love! I love selling self-care and positivity. We all know the saying, “When you smell good, you look good!, and not only does that apply to your physical appear but to your favorite space as well, Pleasant fragrances encourage the release of endorphins and instant changes your mood. It’s all about mental health and creating positive vibes one fragrance at a time!
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
Que by Quon Candle Co. products are sold exclusively on QBQCandleco.com. I chose to sell on my own website instead of using other platforms because it was easier to manage my products and orders and keep the cost low instead of using other platforms that are more like marketplaces that take a percentage of each sale, etc. The main con is that I am responsible for advertising and driving traffic to my website with the hope of converting the traffic into sales.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I have learned so many lessons and I continue to learn every day. I think one of the biggest lessons that I had to learn is that no matter what there is no such thing as the right time to start something. If you have the thought, do what you need to do to turn that thought into action, and take chances. Even if it looks like the market is oversaturated, do it anyway. Your desired audience will gravitate toward you and you may reach an audience that you hadn’t thought about before. Stay true to yourself, show yourself grace, be flexible, and have fun along the way!
