Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chad Singer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chad, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Coming up with a business name and logo are always one of the struggles a business owner first goes through. Being a dog training business there are a ton of dog trainers out there with every name you can think of. I wanted our name to be different so we spelt out “Canine” instead of abbreviating it as “K9”. I also knew that we trained differently than a lot of the dog training franchises and most trainers out there, so I was trying to think of what name would inspire “change” and the word “Revolution” came to mind, so we named the business “Canine Revolution Dog Training”. I put together this letter when the business started and put it on our website :
Canine Revolution Dog Training is focused on enhancing the dog and owner relationship, so that all can “Live the dog owner’s dream”. Revolution is “a dramatic and wide-reaching change”. Our vision is to change the way that dogs are viewed and how they are treated to better align with their natural instincts. This is accomplished through training methods that are “Tried and True” including three main aspects: education, balance, and pack instincts.
Education is “information about or training in a particular field or subject”. Our method of training educates the dog on how to behave appropriately in a domestic environment and how to tolerate foreign behavior. Additionally, our training method educates the dog owner on how to understand the dog’s language (body language), understand the dog’s mental state, and utilize the dog’s natural instincts in order to become the pack leader.
Balance is “a condition in which different elements are in the correct proportions”. The Canine Revolution method of training uses a consistent and fair approach to dog training that simulates canine interaction in a natural dog pack. A balance of training also creates trust, loyalty, and respect with the dog and owner that strengthens their day-to-day interactions.
Pack Instincts are a dog’s “natural behaviors that are not trained or taught”. In order to utilize the dog’s natural pack instincts, we must create a pack structure. This is a major aspect of the Canine Revolution Dog Training method, creating a pack structure that simulates the natural dog pack, forming conditions for living in the pack, and that is easy for the dog owner to understand and maintain at home in order to successfully “lead the pack”.
At Canine Revolution Dog Training our commitment is to provide unmatched lifelong support for you and your dog. It is an honor to work with each and every dog and owner, and our desire is to interact with as many dogs and owners as possible to help both live a naturally happy, stress-free life together while revolutionizing the way that society views our beloved companions.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Growing up and through college I had no intentions of owning a business or being a dog trainer. I graduated college then served in the Navy. While in the Navy I had some struggles with one of my personal dogs and thus got into the dog training world to work with him. During that process I sparked a passion for dog training and helping people with their dogs, so I resigned from the Navy and started with a dog training company in San Diego, CA. I ended up leaving that company, moving back to my home state of South Carolina and starting up my own dog training business.
We do everything dog related at Canine Revolution Dog Training but our primary mission day-to-day is helping families achieve their goals with their pet dogs. From a dog struggling with leash pulling, anxiety, insecurity, reactivity, puppy training, etc, we handle it all.
Two of the things that make us unique in our industry is the extensive training that our Professional Dog Trainers go through, which is continued training throughout their career. Additionally we have an extensive staff of Training Assistants who help the trainers manage the dogs we are responsible for day-to-day to ensure the best for the dog. This is something uncommon in our industry and makes a huge difference overall.
I’m proud of each and every member of our team for putting in 110% everyday with the dogs and families we have the honor to work with. We strive to put out as much useful information on our social media channels because we want to help people achieve their goals, whether or not they go through one of our formal programs.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We don’t have a huge social media following yet, several thousand followers on all platforms, but we are learning to adapt and provide useful content. At first we would just shoot and post videos of dogs with some background music, now our focus is on providing education and useful content that our viewers can find helpful with their dog at home. We do this in long version on YouTube and short video format on the other social platforms. Additionally we have a podcast as well to provide information to people in an audio format so that they can listen and learn while doing other things like transiting. Our audiences grew significantly when we shifted to providing educational content, we also review our comments and make videos that our audience requests in addition to reviewing our insights monthly to determine what our audience likes to see so we can provide more of that to them. If you are just starting on social media, I would say to provide education to your ideal audience and adjust from there.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
One of the things that we enjoy the most is what we call our “Alumni Community”. We have set up a Facebook group where a majority of our dog training Alumni have joined and can stay in contact with each other. We also have monthly Alumni classes where we can get together and do some more dog training together and stay in touch with each other. We like to think of our Alumni and Team as family and I think our clients feel that as well.
