We recently connected with Nicole West and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nicole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that when people describe me they say a couple key things…I hope first and foremost they say that I was always a mom first. This business Ive started has and will always be something that comes as a strong second place to my boys. Raising Julian & Colton is my most important job. In relation to me as a designer – I hope that people say that I was a good listener, had fun while working with them and created a space that they absolutely dreamed of.

Nicole , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always been a creative person…and I found my first creative role as a Visual Merchandising Manager for Nordstrom right out of college. I continued in the visual merchandising world for a couple different retailers before switching to Interior Design. I designed model homes for a builder out of Atlanta. After some time, I got married and had my fist child Julian. I stopped working after his birth to care for him and his significant medical needs. As he grew older and his brother and he were in school for a bug part of the day I decided to start designing again….and that’s when Nicole West Interiors was born.
I do full service Interior Design for residential and Commercial spaces, flips, staging – no matter how small or large the project I am able to help out! I have two General Contractors I work with and an entire team of tradesmen that help with specific projects.
Often the husband and wife have different opinions on what they are wanting in the space. My job is to listen to both and marry their styles together to create a beautiful space. My biggest task of two opposite opinions was a victorian style wife and farmhouse husband wanted a kitchen! The space turned out beautifully.
I pride myself in not having only one style. I am not known for only using neutrals or using wallpaper in every space…I have clients who’s projects range from mid century modern to victorian/farmhouse and everything in-between.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals. This is hands down the best source in my opinion. When people share you from their own experience it shows they were more than happy with your work and the relationship you built together and this immediately creates trust with the new client. This is how my entire business started. It has all been referral based.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
The business of design is a very intimate one. A client relationship is often one that lasts at least 6 months if not a lifetime. I am in the home and working with the entire family. The domino effect often happens – what starts off as calling me in to help with one room ends up having me touch and help out in rooms throughout the entire home. This happens VERY often. Keeping in touch is easy because even if our design projects have ended our personal bond is still there.
