We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angela Williams . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angela below.
Angela, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
When I started my coaching business in 2017, I had no idea what I was doing. I started out by focusing on my strengths and what I was passionate about. I just knew I wanted to help people find their purpose so I created a framework to do that. However, nothing was happening. I hired my first coach to help me lay the foundation for my business and unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. I thought I’d made a huge mistake by becoming a coach until one day-after going through about 2 to 3 niche ideas-it finally hit me. Use what you’re good at and help others who are in the entrepreneurial space that might need a little guidance. That’s when I decided to become a resource for new entrepreneurs who work full-time. Figuring out how to utilize my gifts in a way that solves a problem for a specific group of people took time. I didn’t have a tangible roadmap that would lead me from point A to point B.
Now, I’ve created Ebooks to help 9-5preneurs with things like laying a solid foundation in their business so they can build strategically without wasting time or money. I’ve created a checklist that will help them to see where they are on their journey and what they need to consider along the way.
All of my Ebooks are resources that will help busy entrepreneurs find balance, clarity, and confidence to build their businesses with ease and flow while they’re working a full time job. I’m gearing up for a membership that will support and facilitate growth for my tribe. I want my contribution to the 9-5 entrepreneurial community to be impactful and transformational. I suffered through all of the challenges so they don’t have to go through what I’ve gone through.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, my name is Angela Williams aka Angela Motivates in the social media world. I’m a business strategist, mindset coach, and an Amazon Bestselling author. In addition, I’m a certified life coach with a Masters of Science degree in Psychology.
I help 9-5preneurs master the overwhelm so they can build their businesses and eventually ditch their day job. I provide them with tools and resources to help them find balance, clarity, and confidence to step into their role as a leader and not as an employee. I’m also an advocate for mental health awareness as well.
I currently work with clients 1-on-1 during a 6-week period, however I will be pivoting into a paid membership structure in the near future. This way I can maximize the impact I wish to make in the lives of many. I’ve also decided to package my knowledge into digital ebooks so that it’s affordable for those who wish to invest in themselves and their dreams.
I think what sets me apart from others is my ability to deliver my area of expertise in a way that only I can deliver it. I truly think that’s what sets each of us apart from others. We are uniquely gifted to reach a certain group of people. Sometimes it may take us a minute to figure it out but once we do we become unstoppable. I’m just grateful that I get to share my gifts and talents with the world.
What I would like others to know about me is that I’m a “no holds barred” type of coach. I’m going to hold you accountable and I’m very honest. I don’t hold anything back because the goal is to bring out the best in the clients I am honored to work with. I’m funny and very easy to talk to and my clients find comfort in each of our sessions. Some even say I’m extremely wise. For that I’m grateful!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As I mentioned early on when I first started this journey it was rough. I was in grad school, working full time, and trying to invest in a coach. I used my refund money to hire my first coach and literally got nowhere. I lost my apartment and had to move into a hotel. Months later I was involved in a terrible car accident and had to put everything on pause to heal. I kept going. I had a cleaning company that helped to offset some of my expenses, but lost my contract due to a change in management at the company I was contracted to clean for. About 3 years later my dad passed away and that was a huge loss for me and my family. Yet I’m still here.
I remember hearing a quote by Tyler Perry that said, “sometimes the dream will have to carry you” and it’s so true. There were days when I wanted to quit, blame everyone, kick myself, give up, you name it , but there was always that burning desire deep within nudging me to keep going. So, when people give me excuses as to why they don’t invest in themselves or can’t invest in themselves I don’t want to hear it. It’s because I know it’s really not them speaking. It’s their limitations speaking on their behalf. Awareness was a game changer for me and I believe I’m still going strong because I refuse to quit on my development.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to unlearn is having a poverty mindset. I didn’t realize I had such a negative outlook concerning money. It’s one of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn by far. I’m grateful for the teachings of the late Mr. Bob Proctor. God rest his soul. His teachings caused me to really get clear about what I wanted out of life and to go after it no matter how big or small my dreams are. So unlearning bad habits around money was and is something I work on daily.
