Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Quinn . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amber, appreciate you joining us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
Family businesses that are rooted in building financial freedom and generational wealth to change the trajectory of your family’s legacy are truly amazing.

Amber, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Doctor Amber. Physical therapist with speciality in pediatrics and pelvic floor, while inspiring other PT students of color. Also a proud business owner of a family-owned event space on the Southside of Atlanta. After going to school for countless years to receive my doctorate, and still seeing the disadvantages of pay as a woman, mostly a woman of color in a male dominated field I knew that entrepreneurship was the route for me in order to make my mark on the world and leave it better than how I found it, while also making sure I got what I was worth. As a black woman business owner with my mother and sister we aspire to provide a YouNique experience when a client comes to our event space. Each client should feel inspired and motivated to be a better version of themselves. They should be comfortable in expressing their desires and needs to create a special memory of a lifetime. When working together, know that you are building a new generational culture of elevating Black Women and empowering them to take their future into their own hand and craft a life of their dreams without limitations. Not only will you be able to host your event in style and in unique fashion, but you’ll become part of our tribe to push our purpose forward. Changing the world one smile at a time. As a woman of many talents wearing tons of hats throughout the day, my vision is to inspire students, aspiring medical professionals, driven entrepreneurs and determined mothers. You can nurture your family, build a business, live in your purpose to help and guide others, while changing your family narrative to leave behind a legacy.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When opening up my family event space/venue, not only did we hit a brick wall with most of the utilities (electrical & plumbing), it set us back 8 weeks on our timeline and almost $10k. This was a huge unforeseen problem and cut into our budget which meant a lot of tasks had to be completed ourselves. There was a huge learning curve, and tons of questions in attempts to work around a newborn baby’s sleep schedule. Over the days where hours were spent on the phone, sending countless emails, literal blood/sweat/tears and even arguments, our why kept pushing our business. We knew our purpose was bigger than our problems, and that our journey of preparing the space for our first client was going to be what kept us grounded when we began to see success. Camping out in my car with my tiny baby for the utilities to come on to becoming a self proclaimed project manager and contractor during this process has kept me focused and driven. My relationship with my family is even better despite the hardships because we know it has all been worth it.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Unfortunately, since I was not well educated on funding my business we did not go about it the “right” way. Initially it was searching for loans, applying for funding while simultaneously emptying out my savings and earnings from my other business investments. The personal investment would seem like a more risky way to gain initial capital, but in some, if not most ways, it’s a reflection of how much we believe in our business and how desperate we are for a change in our lives. After reading more and finding mentorship, I did acquire business credit from a few lenders and realized how much credit I already had accumulated from other business ventures. The greatest thing about being a serial entrepreneur is you have some many doors you can open to access things. Funding is one of the hardest things to do if you aren’t aware of the things you need to be validated as a business. It’s not just about revenue but credibility and as a new business is challenging.
