Hi Ria Sandhu & Sarina Shah, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Whip It Up’s mission is to provide traditional, fusion, and specialty bundt cakes (and beyond) to customers looking for indulgence in every bite.
Our story began at birth, growing up as best friends who always looked to explore new ideas. In 2020 when the COVID pandemic caused us to be homebound for an extended amount of time, we would bake together virtually from our own homes and then show each other what we made.
Once we finally were able to come together, we merged the flavors and recipes of what we had been creating. We regularly baked for family occasions such as birthdays and other gatherings. Although we were happy with our creations, we decided to challenge ourselves to think bigger. That’s how Whip It Up was born. The story behind our mission is that we do what we do so that our customers can have a unique and tasteful experience every time they trust us with an order.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Although our journey as friends started at birth, our journey in business started in 2020 during a time when our world was facing the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. In a period of uncertainty (and not being able to leave the house much), we began experimenting with various baked goods such as cookies, brownies, and cupcakes. We would bake together virtually from our own homes and show each other what we made.
Once we finally were able to come together, we merged the flavors and recipes of what we had been creating. We regularly baked for family occasions such as birthdays and other gatherings. Although we were happy with our creations, we decided to challenge ourselves to think bigger.
We expanded our palette to include traditional, fusion, and speciality flavors. We expanded our recipes to include cookies, brownies, cupcakes, select cakes and even bundt cakes! With the support of our families, we worked hard to perfect these custom treats so we can bring you a tasty experiment with every bite.
So, from friends at birth, to friends in business, this is how “Whip It Up” was born. We hope you will continue on this delicious journey with us!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for Whip it Up, has been word of mouth. We were lucky to launch this business with the unconditional support of our family and friends. That support led to early opportunities to provide our product in a number of outlets, including local events, business meetings, and even at the convention center. From that point, we have received consistent interest and orders from people that have tried our desserts at an event and wanted to place an order for themselves.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The best advice we can give is to never underestimate the power of social media! When creating your page, elevate the hype before you officially launch it. Use your networks to intro your business and ask your family and friends to share it with others. Always be strategic about what and when you post. Use impactful taglines, and when applicable, use music that is trendy and relatable. Market your social pages any way that you can – on business cards, website, flyers, etc. Use your social media platforms as an outlet for testimonials. Encourage clients to post their orders and tag you. Social media can elevate your brand and business awareness in such an incredible way!
