We recently connected with Dena Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Dena, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
During the time I was in college I worked at a makeup studio as a makeup artist and eyelash tech. After not landing a job in my field and being unhappy at my current job at the time. I decided to become a entrepreneur.
In 2010 I started my business, LuvaLash: Make-up and Eyelash Styling. Through this new business I created marketing materials for my brand. My clients would ask, who created your marketing materials. I would tell them I did. I thought it was a win win, I can service my clients to beautify them and help them to brand their business.
From then on, I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor. I fell in love with providing custom branding strategies for brands in accordance with the vision of their business and their goals.
I felt that I could succeed because I had the skill, the personality, the passion and I could deliver a great product.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the creative industry developing small businesses, non profit organizations and revamping leading brands.
DW Creative Group provide custom branding strategies and services for your brand in accordance with the vision of your business and its goals. The results are an enhanced marketing presence of your brand and a significant return on your investment.
We create, design, and develop clean and exclusive artwork for all forms of your business communications as well as event marketing and special occasion print. Our specialty is branding, layout and typography.
What set me apart from others, besides I am a bad a** when it comes to developing a brand. I am versatile and a teacher. I am all about building relationships and understanding a client in what they are trying to accomplish. I teach them how to use their branding assets as we both go through the process of developing their brand.
I am most proud of my progress. My work has evolved, I have evolved and still evolving to this day. It’s important to brand your business properly and to have purpose. Most times when you think of developing a brand, it all started with something that was a problem. Being the solution to a problem can help others.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is having the ability to bring someone’s dream to reality. Telling a story that someone can relate to through your craft is pretty dope! It’s like a super power. :)

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
After years of not being able to work in my field, I had to do something different to get different results. In 2015 I decided to move to Atlanta. Why Atlanta? It was the hospitality, the vibes and I heard Atlanta supports black businesses.
I had my fair share of challenges moving to an unfamiliar place alone. The funny thing was I didn’t feel alone. God was with me the entire time. My struggle was real but it was worth it!
A year and half later I landed a job in my field at a fortune 500 company.
7 years to date living in Atlanta, I have evolved and my creative journey continues to help people make their dream a reality.
