We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wendy Wesley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wendy below.
Wendy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
I teach wellness and cooking at a drug and alcohol rehab and one day we made Honey-Seared Brussels Sprouts. I noticed a very young man was tearing up a bit after eating them. A female client went to his aid. I later asked the young man if he was OK. His response was, “I’ve never had home cooked food before. I have been on the run my whole life and I have only eaten fast food. I didn’t know what real food tasted like.”
I’d say that was the best moment of my career. It speaks to the power of whole foods that contain real nutrients.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been cooking since I was 8 years old and was always interested in food and nutrition. I spent 23 years working in marketing and PR for non-profits. I was doing fundraising for a hospital and asked if I could shadow a dietitian in her diabetes class. I was hooked. I went back to school to eventually earn a Bachelor of Science Masters Certificate in nutrition. I completed my training at the hospital and worked there as a clinical dietitian for several years before starting my practice, Wendy Wesley Nutrition, LLC.
I am most passionate abut home cooking and helping people find easy methods to cook more at home. I also enjoy helping people understand food marketing and interpreting food labels for the truth.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Marketing, messaging, writing and design for clarity and brevity. I write articles on nutrition and have them placed in free online publications. Earned media is my best marketing tool.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I appear on local news and talk shows to do cooking demonstration or discuss the latest nutrition fads and trends.
