We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anyelica Melendez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anyelica below.
Hi Anyelica, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I’ve always been surrounded by small businesses, which means that I’ve never had a 9-to-5 job. Before digital marketing, I was studying to be a journalist since I had a liking for it. Yet, I went through experiences and met people that inspired me and opened my eyes to what I am doing now. Before the business happened,I created fun content for businesses but not as an official job skill. Eventually, I got to the point where I wanted something for myself. I wanted to create something that could allow me to leave a footprint on this world and for many generations to come. One day, I grabbed a notebook and started writing ideas based on my hobbies, skills, feedback about me, and educational milestones. Some of my written ideas have become a reality and some are still in the process of happening. At first, it was just a ‘what if?’ plan because I wanted to finish my digital marketing degree as well as obtain other fulfillments before launching; nonetheless, things happened that I was positively pushed to open the business. For instance, with high hopes of becoming a business woman and after many prayers, I had multiple encounters where those prayers were confirmed. Later on, one of my friends, without knowing about my business plan, sowed me a canon camera with all its accessories (that’s expensive). On that moment, I knew what I was meant to do and at what speed I was meant to act on it. Finally, I launched KING Establishers on June 10th of 2020 to help other businesses or entrepreneurs find their purpose just as I found mine. I barely had no equipment so I went to Amazon and bought photography equipment like lights, tech, and many other things. I invested so much money, but I knew it was worth it. I was going to buy a new laptop, but my parents gifted me the iPad and Full Sail sent me a Macbook Pro for school (but I use for the business too). Honestly, the process had its ups and downs, but I will never say my bad moments were as memorable as all the good ones. I went through stress, break downs, sad moments, and some relationships were affected due to me opening my business. Still, it was all worth it and I am happy I risked it all to do what I was passionate about. Currently, I am finishing my Digital Marketing degree at Full Sail University where I have learned and developed many skills in regards to digital marketing, branding, social media, business management, entrepreneurship, and much more. I have also obtained certifications for courses like graphic design and marketing. Now, I help businesses reach their purpose by establishing efficient digital marketing strategies while elevating their content, designs, social media, and creative department as a whole.

Anyelica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Anyelica Sarai, I am from Puerto Rico, but I live in Kissimmee, Florida. I am 24 years old and I am currently a digital marketing student at Full Sail University. In essence, I am an ambivert, which is a balance between introvert and extrovert. I do not talk to everyone and I am shy in certain situations, but (depending on the person) I can’t stop talking. When it comes to creativity, I go all out! I love thinking outside the box. I enjoy designing, strategizing, and producing material that can have an effect on people. At first, it was all about journalism but when I started exploring around in social media, creating videos at my second job, and content for my family’s business, everything changed. I looked into the field and found marketing but I wanted to focus on digital marketing, which is what my business focuses on. We provide businesses (mostly small businesses) with the best combination of digital marketing-derived services. Those services go under branding, graphic design, photography/videography, social media management, and regular marketing services. Some of our existing services are logos, websites, product or brand photoshoots, printing, and collateral design for marketing material. In addition, we are currently working on adding more services like drone footage (this one is about to be launched) and others that are currently a secret. Moreover, we manage the platforms of many clients while they focus on building their businesses from the inside out. For example, we can create monthly content based on strategy meetings or spontaneous content.
Nowadays, we are working with insurance agency owners, realtors, event planners, entrepreneurs of different industries, and so on. We value their time so we take the burden of growing their online presence. It is what we love to do, so we focus on everything marketing while they just do what they do best.
We have fixed prices for our services, yet proposals are provided for social media management services since we craft the estimate based on what the client wants and needs. There are also no limitations as to what we can do because we can add special features if the client wishes to add a unique feature to their package.
We wanted to provide value – consequently, these services will enhance people’s brands by establishing their purpose worldwide through different channels. We are also committed to helping any business that needs or wants our services. In addition, if the person does not have a business yet, we have the tools to establish the purpose that was formed for them from scratch. Our mission is our purpose, and that is to influence and guide every generation of entrepreneurs to establish their own. Through our services, we want to lead many businesses and entrepreneurs to discover and embrace the purpose that the Father formed uniquely for them.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Lesson: Perfectionism is always the way to go.
– IT IS NOT.
When I started, everything had to be perfect. I’m not saying being a perfectionist is a bad thing, but too much can create a negative panorama. I’ve always thought that everything had to be organized and done perfectly. And that everything had to run to perfection, but it does not. Some things must come through difficult situations. Other things cannot be organized since they just happen naturally. Basically, this lands to my main lesson: we cannot control everything because if we try, stress can eat us up like nothing. I had a few breakdowns during the process, but once I realized that I was not meant to control the situation but to learn from it, everything got better for me. I embraced the fact that I had to appreciate errors and mistakes. That’s what made me grow were the mistakes rather than the successes. Still, sometimes an overload of perfectionism comes through, but I have been able to manage and learn how to overcome it, so that I can do everything to the best of my abilities without punishing myself for not seeing perfection.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
There are definitely many effective ways to grow a clientele. For me, it is like a salad – a little bit of everything to make those colors and flavors POP!
Maybe is not the fastest way or maybe there are better ways, but this one is my favorite and it’s knowing your audience. Not in a superficial way, but in a deeper way where professional connections can be developed. For instance, when I meet a client I love to make them feel welcome, I listen and let them share their thoughts about what they want, and I do my best to understand their goals. Through the service process, I (most of the time) help them with extra things like searching for third parties for supplies or whatever they need. I do not do this because I want to force them to like me or my business, but since my goal is to help them establish their purpose, I want to let them know that marketing is not the only thing that unites us. And honestly, I LOVE helping other entrepreneurs grow and learn how to do things efficiently. Consequently, to summarize, these bonds stay strong and I receive many amazing referrals, I am invited to events where I network (this is another strategy), and (the best one) I am always their first pick for digital marketing services. Why? because I put them first. Not as a ‘money machine’ but as a purpose, I had the gift of helping. As I said, there are other strategies and I have many more, but this one, in particular, is a strategy that I hold dearly and will never change.
