We were lucky to catch up with Genesis Gonzalez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Genesis thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I’ve always been drawn to creating and solving problems. From a young age, I was surrounded by people who built things from the ground up watching that process taught me that passion and persistence are everything. My sister, Mireysa, has always been one of my biggest inspirations. She’s creative, fearless, and constantly reminds me that with faith and hard work, anything is possible.
Before I got into tech, I was working as a server in the hospitality industry. It was a job that taught me about people and perseverance, but I knew deep down I wanted something more meaningful. One day, I took a leap of faith. I quit my job with no plan, just trust that God would guide me. I started learning, praying, and believing that there was a bigger purpose for me. Those months of uncertainty turned into a season of growth. I spent late nights teaching myself to code, breaking things just to fix them again. Eventually, I landed my first tech job, and that moment changed everything.
Today, I work remotely as a QA software developer, which gives me the freedom to balance my career with my personal life to travel, create, and spend time with my loved ones back home in Miami. I also run my YouTube channel, Genesis-io, where I share tutorials, tools, and personal experiences to help others break into tech. For me, execution isn’t about perfection; it’s about faith, persistence, and showing up even when the outcome isn’t certain.

Genesis , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a QA software developer and content creator passionate about making technology feel approachable and inspiring for everyone. My path into tech wasn’t traditional I started in hospitality, but curiosity and faith led me toward software and automation. After stepping away from my old career, I taught myself everything from scratch learning through online tutorials, trial and error, and a lot of prayer. That leap of faith opened the door to a career I love.
Today, I work in quality assurance, focusing on building reliable systems and automations, while sharing my journey through Genesis-io, my YouTube channel dedicated to tech education and motivation. My goal is to show that anyone, no matter where they start, can learn, grow, and build a career in tech with consistency and belief in themselves.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting was one of the hardest and most transformative experiences of my life. I had spent years in hospitality and thought that was my long-term path but I couldn’t ignore my growing curiosity for technology. I wanted to understand how things worked behind the scenes, not just on the surface.
So, I decided to start over. I quit my job, committed to learning tech full-time, and accepted being a beginner again. It was intimidating at first, but that pivot reshaped everything, not just my career, but my mindset. It taught me that faith has to come before clarity and that starting over doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it means you’re brave enough to evolve.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I’ve always believed that readers are leaders, and that mindset has guided me through every part of my journey. Growing up, my dad filled our home with books, and my sister, Mireysa, has always shared that same love for learning. We constantly inspire each other to grow spiritually, mentally, and creatively.
Even though I now work in tech, I still approach life through that lens of curiosity and growth. I read to expand my mind and strengthen my faith.
A few books that have deeply influenced me are:
- “A Mind for Numbers” by Barbara Oakley – It changed how I approach learning and problem-solving, especially in coding.
- “Deep Work” by Cal Newport – It helped me understand the importance of focus and intentional time.
- “Atomic Habits” by James Clear – It taught me that progress comes from the small, consistent things we do daily.
Those books, combined with prayer and persistence, have shaped my outlook: fall in love with the process, not just the result. Everything worthwhile grows in its own time.
