We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ne’Shia Holden . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ne’Shia below.
Alright, Ne’Shia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
To begin with, my most meaningful project has been “Good morning Moon” directed and written by Rob Vickers. You can also still stream this project on the Wynn Network app, by the way. This project until this day has a hold on me . It put me in a place creatively and personally that I’ve never been. This project has so much substance to it. “Good morning Moon” is about a young girl who grew up with her mother surviving in the streets. As she grows into a young woman her mother eventually puts her in undesirable positions leaving her feeling less than. She goes through a series of unfortunate life events such as abuse, unwarranted abortions, controlling relationships, prostitution, and more.
Fortunately, I’ve never been in these situations so I definitely had to dig deep and pull from a “what if” standpoint. I knew and know that women really have endured such unfortunate events and I was playing a role that told a much needed story. I felt honored to convey a message for those that may not feel there’s a way out….for those that may feel unheard. I feel like more truth needs to be told in a creative way and I was happy to be apart of that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I’ve always wanted to act since I was about nine years old. I knew that I also wanted to do hair as well. So I took my high school years to dedicate to cosmetology. I was in a couple church plays but when I go to college I dove into the arts. It felt so good doing a poetry showcase on 2012 . That was my first college performance before my actual ground breaking performance in 2014 . I played a man in a play and I begged to do it and I knocked it out the park! I currently intend to base my whole career on artistry of some kind. That’s actually always been the plan! I love to create. I currently am an actor. I love to do hair and paint for my wine glass business (Shi.Wines) when I’m not acting. ! I love just to soak up life and use it in my art to some degree.
I believe that’s what sets me apart from others. I live to honor the present with using the gifts life has to offer . We’re art and I feel that we’re more alive when we appreciate that fact . I love to use the good, bad, pretty, and ugly and use it in my artistry. It makes me proud knowing I stand on these points and values. I’m proud knowing I’m a gem in the industry.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
Yes there is ! I want to show women and young girls from rough areas that you can do it. I want to be the reason someone is motivated to chase their dreams. I don’t only do this for me…I do it for the ladies that feel they can’t. I want people to see that no matter where you’ve started, what cards you’ve been dealt, or what mishaps are there it can still be a successful story! I want people to see that true talent still lives on in this superficial life we now live in.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
As a creative, I feel as if the most rewarding part is seeing the work come alive! It’s just a feeling of when the words are cultivated into actions, movements, wardrobe and etc comes into one ensemble. It’s nothing like seeing a meat on the bones!
