We caught up with the brilliant and insightful CerVon Campbell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi CerVon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
my song sarah lynn. I took advice from this show bojack horseman that he gave and put it into a song to listen to to kind of motivate myself as well reinsurance myself in what I’m doing. It pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and fully create something from nothing. it means the most to me just because it was my first time making something far from my norm and something that I really felt showed me as a person
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m cervon campbell I’m from fountain inn south carolina. I got into music from doing stand up and just pushed into entering to connect with people and express emotions. I do stand up comedy I make music I act I write I just jump into whatever. I try my best to make music that is easy to connect to and help people not feel so alone as well as give a voice to calm and motivate. my main goal and take away is connection and that others feel how you feel.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
the most rewarding for sure is when people connect to my music and feel it in their situations whether it’s heartbreak day to day mental health or even motivation it’s great to know people are on the same channel as you
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
yes and it is to stay uncomfortable in my space that way I’m never stuck in a box and I can make whatever genre or feeling I’m in in that moment
