Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexis Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexis, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of my most meaningful projects that I have worked on to this day has been my newest single “Let Me Leave”. It is a song that I wrote after coming out of a really toxic relationship back in 2020, and is something that I think more and more people can relate to these days. It’s really meant to be an anthem for victims of abuse – regardless of if it’s physical, emotional, verbal or mental abuse. I especially want to give young girls out there hope, and courage that even though it feels like you’re stuck and can’t leave… you can. And you’ll be SO much better for it!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
From an early age, I always had an interest in music. I grew up in a very musical home with both parents heavily involved in music – both writing, and performing. Music has always been something that is a part of me, no matter how many times I’ve tried to choose a different career choice! It wasn’t until moving to Nashville though, after college, that I began to take my music career seriously. I started practicing songwriting more, practicing guitar, and really just networking around town, trying to learn as much as I could. It was hard at first because I did not know anyone, and really had a lot of hard lessons I learned on my own because of it. However, the hard lessons have made me who I am today, and I am grateful for that.
One of the main things that I really want my fans and followers to know is how thankful I am that they have always supported me. I have been an independent artist for a while now, and all of my success is because of them! It is really amazing to see all the support over the years, and how it has grown even since I started my career. I truly would not be where I am today without my fans and I am just really appreciative that I get to wake up every day and do what I love.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I feel as though there are lots of ways to support your favorite artists in todays world. Although it’s always great to have people support my music through my merch, my CD’s and signed photos.. sharing my music is just as important! With so many platforms for social media and music in general, it truly means a lot to have friends/fans/followers share when they know I have a new song coming out. Or for instance, maybe they end up coming to see me perform at a show.. it always makes me happy to see a post or two of my performance. Trust me – I get it, life is expensive and you might not have extra money to spend on artist merch. But sharing and posting on social media is just as valuable and is always appreciated!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, something that has always been the most rewarding part of being an artist would have to be the people I meet and the difference I have been able to make with my music. There are so many people that I have met over the years and they all have different stories, life experiences, and things they have gone through. When someone comes up to me after a show and tells me, “I went through that exact same thing, thank you for putting how I was feeling into words – your music helped me get through that time in my life” … it makes what I do worthwhile.
So often, it is easy to focus on ourselves and what is going on in our own little world that we can sometimes forget that other people are going through things too. Hearing that my music has got someone through a hard time always makes me feel as though I am doing something right with my career! It is really great to have my experiences and songs be the connector; the hope in a bad situation, or the song that helps them through whatever it is they are going through.
