We recently connected with Brandi Little and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brandi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I absolutely love being an artist. The preparation each aspect takes to pull off an incredible show, the hours spent in the studio to make sure every word and note translates the way it was felt in my heart while writing the song. I love seeing my team come together and utilizing each of their gifts to make sure I’m presented in the best light. I love the world of entertainment, but the road does get weary. Some long nights feel longer than others some shows get canceled the day of, some studio recordings never turn out how I’d hope. & in those moments of frustration I often ask myself what it would have been like to take a different route. What if I would have gone to school and become a nurse, would I have had more time to spend with family and friends. I’m always reminded that I’m doing exactly what I was called to do, but I do always wonder.

Brandi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the industry by pure faith & a little luck. Truthfully it all happened by chance. I never really believed in myself but the love of singing and acting never let me go. It took me a very long time to love the voice I have and not until recently during the making of my album BLOOM did I start to understand my gifts. What once terrified me became my biggest asset. I had so many fears but it never stopped me from auditioning for stage plays or even American Idol. Even tho I was afraid and unsure of myself a small part of me always knew I was destined for this industry. Aside from singing and acting my love for public speaking is what I know helps individuals the most. Of course there is healing through song and even acting out a character, but I believe it’s something powerful that takes place when you use your voice to uplift others. When a person is willing to express all they have gone through and overcome in hopes that others are inspired to continue down a path of hope. My only mission is to create a space of healing for those all over the world. I call myself the dealer of hope because no matter what I have or will endure there will always be a chance for better. All it takes is patience and faith to know better is coming to receive it. I am not perfect but my transparency to be myself no matter what is why so many gravitate towards me.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“Change your thoughts change your life” will always be a staple in my life. Reading the book instantly opened my mind to a world of possibilities. I started to see the world in color. No longer seeing through the lens of fear. I started to understand the power of my mind and the power in peace. The balance of living free with no expectations of good or bad. It was with each chapter, each verse that Lao-tzu dictated, another piece of my own puzzle was revealed. I am forever grateful for the day I stumbled across this incredible book.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Support the artist you know and love. Remember that they are human and will make mistakes along the journey. Give them grace and space to create. Know that being an artist is extremely time consuming and sometimes draining. Share there music and art everywhere you go. Know that timeless music and art is food to the spirit. We live in a world where you can get famous with a click of a button. Where sounds & dance routines are trending more than new albums. We are also still living in a world that craves timeless pieces of art. The best way to support artist is to simply, support. It’s our responsibility to carry the artifacts to the next generation.
