Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharrie McCain . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sharrie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I remember as a kid walking to the library on weekends growing up looking in the entertainment part learning the business side of the tv/film industry. The library use to be an hour from my house . So the walk definitely helped me prep for the mental game in the Industry. The skill I think that was most essential was being disciplined. Knowledge is power and I always love to learn . So reading for me had always come in handy when surviving the industry.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is sharrie mccain . I was born and raised in baltimore md . I started with a theatre background for 12 years . Then I’m 2013 I did tv and film only. Not only am I an actress . I also write , produce and sometimes direct film or tv projects .
I took my knowledge and applied it to my career . I don’t really want the fake . I just want a long dating career where I live life on my own terms .
I am most proud of not giving up in this industry. As artists we go through a lot each day and we must continue to pray about our journey .
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is just being able to put a smile on my audience face and make sure my performance delivers. I love when I get a script because I break down my character and all the characters around me to understand the story.
As a creative when I’m writing or directing a story . I love creating a story where my actors can fall in love with the writing . Or I fall I. Love with the performance of each actor. If I’m producing I love to see over the whole project to make sure each cast and crew is safe .

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I remember working on my project that I wrote , direct and produced “ broken exchange “ . A lot has happen with my personal life . As I was staying focus on the job . One of my agents was telling me I was up for a role on the tv show “ swagger “ . As I am saying yes I am open for the dates . I had to focus on 50 plus people on a short film project . I went home and cried every night after set . When the project wrapped . I booked the role on my 29th birth day. The pandemic hit and I didn’t film the project until my 30th birth day . I was excited to book my first tv role but it was a hurdle . Doing the time I didn’t go on set I was focus on the edit for my film with my editor . The pandemic changed a lot but I didn’t give up on my goals .
