We recently connected with Matt Grosz and have shared our conversation below.
Matt, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I was influenced in cooking at an early age by my mother and grandmother. Then, as an adult I worked hard to learn new techniques and skills by expanding my culinary knowledge. I think had I tried to experience more ethnic cuisine at an earlier age it would have helped in formulating skills later in life. There is much to learn from other cultures.
Keeping an open mind is easily the best skill in the food blogging world. Always be willing to learn and sample.
One of the only regrets I have is that I wish I could have had the budget to travel more in my youth. There are so many wonderful things in the world and we get to see so little.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Matt Grosz. I live in a little town in Southeast Louisiana. Food has always been my passion. Whether it’s cooking my own or eating at restaurants, I love every bit of it. About three years ago, my wife Hannah and I started our food blog as a way to share all the things we love that are food. I think our recipes and writings are special because of all the work we put into being unique and original. I love blending the southern food I grew up with, with all other types of cuisines and just seeing what happens. Sometimes it’s blog worthy and sometimes, well, we just eat it. Whether a reader makes one of our recipes or not, as long as they go away a little hungry after reading we’ll be happy.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I would love to one day turn what started as a hobby into a career. Being able to reach a larger audience and share my love of food would be a dream come true.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative in your experience?
Easily the most rewarding thing is when someone tries one of my recipes and enjoys it. Not only do I enjoy when I can make someone else happy with food, but the idea that a complete stranger likes something I worked hard at is very rewarding.
