We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Toby Jacobs-Mijolovic . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Toby below.
Toby, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
I don’t think there’s an industry standard because the Luxury Picnic “industry” is still so new. However, Picnique315 prides itself in curating a unique luxury picnic package each time-meaning, no two Picniques are ever alike. No cookie cutter designs here! Each piece of China and all coordinating decor is thoughtfully chosen for every Picnique.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I’m a 46 year old mom and middle school Family & Consumer Science teacher who loves to decorate and create beautiful spaces! I decided to start Picnique315 during the pandemic- I found myself constantly redecorating the same rooms in my home over and over. I knew I needed a bigger outlet for my creative side, so I decided to start a Luxury Picnic business to provide safe, socially- distanced, beautiful events for others. Picnique315 allows clients to customize their experience in order to make their celebration or event memorable and effortless on their part, since every detail taken care of.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
Six months after starting Picnique315, I purchased a Luxury Tent Sleepover business. I was curious about tent sleepovers and had seen them all over social media but knew no one in my vicinity offered this service. I contacted a woman who owned a sleepover business about an hour away from me and asked if she serviced my area, as I didn’t want to step on toes if the market was already flush. She informed that she did not service my area and mentioned she was considering selling her business, turnkey. We met the next day and she showed me the ins and outs of her business and her extensive inventory. The following week I returned with a uhaul and was the owner of another business that fit perfectly within Picnique315!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My social media presence will always be a work in progress! I find social media and marketing one of the trickiest and most time consuming facets of this business. It’s my only form of marketing, all word of mouth and social media sharing, and it’s a full time job in itself. I try to keep up on the latest trends and it often feels like I’ll never know all I need to in order to really develop a large following. But honestly, that’s ok with me! I started this business hoping I’d have 100 followers and do one event a week. I’ve far surpassed that and I love what I do, so the numbers and trends really are the least important part for me! I love seeing smiling faces after an event. I love hearing how a clients Picnique was the best birthday/celebration they’ve ever had. I help create memories that last a lifetime for people and that’s what matters most.
