We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jacqueline Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jacqueline below.
Alright, Jacqueline thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Yes, I like to say I offer Luxe Balloon decor. I offer more of an Organic and custom color look versus the standard classic balloon decor.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m an Afro Cuban, Jersey born, Miami raised mompreneur. One would say I’m a creative and free spirited individual, a dreamer but also a hustler at heart. Ever since I can remember I’ve always loved to create, whether it was through writing short stories, doodling or photography.
Over the years, I’ve discovered that I love to create long lasting memories for others who may be celebrating a special occasion in their life. Nothing gives me greater joy to take party of ones special day.
Through creating balloon arrangements I have discovered that I really enjoy creating custom color palettes through the technique of double stuffing. It has helped create my brand and set me apart from other Balloon Stylist in my area.
How did you build your audience on social media?
As a creative, I’ve always had a great eye for photography. I’ve actually dabbled into photography a few years ago. So when I created my Instagram page for my business, I wanted to make sure my pictures were nice and crisp to appeal to anyone visiting my page. Having an aesthetically pleasing grid is very important to catch and retain your consumers.
Another strategy to growing my social media is being authentic and transparent. I’m big on showing the behind the scenes of my installs and offering tips and tricks. Let’s be honest, nothing in life is perfect and easy and I think it helps create a genuine relationship with your followers.
Lastly, I love to give credit when credit is due. You will always find that I tag and mention vendors that I’m working with. It not only shows your support for them but it also helps your business get in front of the eyes of a different audience. So my advice to anyone looking to grow their social media presence, I recommend that your pictures are aesthetically pleasing, be authentic and genuine to your followers and spread the love. Engage and interact with other vendors within your industry.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience; the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. As an only child, single parent, single business owner and a product of being raised in a single parent home. I’ve had to overcome and recover from difficulties very quickly. Because of my tough upbringing it has shaped and molded me to the person I am today and why I’ve been successful at my business thus far.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, I came to a cross road where I had to choose between my corporate job in the cruising industry which was quickly going under at the time or build and put my energy into my small business that I had already started in 2019. When I started seeing that delivering small balloon arrangements before work, during my lunch breaks and after work/weekends were paying my bills, I decided to take that “leap of faith” and become a full time business owner. Fast forward to today, I’m happy to say we are still here and thriving!
