We recently connected with Raye The Promo Addict and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Raye The thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today.
Honestly, the main thing that would do differently is start sooner. and remain consistent. Had I remained consistent from the time that I first made music a goal I would have made a lot more progress by now, or should I say I would have gotten to where I am now a lot sooner. The other thing is, if you truly believe in your heart and soul that something is for you then go for it no matter who or what has to be placed on hold or at the least share your time. Often times we put people ahead of our dreams, we put working a 9-5 ahead of our dreams or even worse we put our fears and doubt ahead of our dreams. Make your dreams a priority and surround yourself with like-minded people and you will achieve it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
So my name is Thurayyah Pitts but I go by Raye The Promo Addict as that is one of the services I offer (promotion oof any business/artists etc.. My love for music has been a part of me since early childhood, as I would sing in the holiday programs in pre-k, sing in the church choir as young child, participated in the marching band in Jr. High and High School. This led to me wanting to manage artists so I started my own company called T.A.P. Legend Entertainment Co. back in 2007 and from there I grew personally and professionally as I continuously added new services along the way. I have worked with a number of independent artists over the years which has probably been what I loved the most as I get to help them make there dreams come true, just seeing the joy that they experience when they accomplish things they never thought that they would accomplish and knowing I played a part in that. I have also worked along many mainstream artists and actors such as Omar Gooding, Cam’ron, Trick Daddy, Trina, Renni Rucci, Ceelo, Fabulous, and many more. There is so much more that I could share about myself, however if you wish to follow my journey you can find me on all social media under Raye The Promo Addict. I believe in my artists and I Know that greatness is near for the whole team. Special shout out to my artists Pimptress, CaspaCz, and Arddie. I have 2 more that I’ll be adding to the team soon as well. So the main services I offer are, Management, Promoter, Music Consulting. Last year I won Female Promoter of the year here in Atlanta, Ga and this year I have been nominated for Manager of the year, I hope I win again but even if I don’t the nomination alone is a win for the whole team.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Ahhh this is an easy one as I have many stories, I don’t typically share this with the public but I really want people to know that know matter what obstacles are placed before you, you have to keep pushing to reach excellence and greatness. In a matter of about 18 months (2021-2022) I lost 4 loved ones that are very close to me as well as others. I lost my two favorite aunts in Jan. of 2021 and the next 2-3 months to follow I was diagnosed with 3 or 4 medical conditions that aren’t terminal but definitely life changing. Then in December of 2021 I lost my father and there is no hurt like losing a parent. Then in July of 2022 I lost my step-father whom I had actually lived with. And in between and after those 4 major losses I lost other relatives and friends. along with other painful life events. When you are destined for greatness you will be tested, but in the end I’m Raye The Promo Addict, a winner a fighter, a problem solver, but never a quitter.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My reputation has been built by being honest, sticking to my word, going above and beyond, and of course when people see that what I say I do is matched by what I’m actually doing such as when people see me working with famous people they know I’m for real about what I say I do. No artist nor business partner etc. can ever say that I have lied or did not uphold my end of the deal. And if for some reason I didn’t is was not because of me it was something on their end.
