We were lucky to catch up with Quinnettra Blackshear recently and have shared our conversation below.
Quinnettra , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
When I first thought about coming into the industry of event planning/decorator it was tough. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to jump out there and begin to plan a major wedding or party from start to finish. So, I had to really sit and think how can I slowly scale up in this business. So, I started out creating balloon pieces in June of 2019. Now, beginning of 2022 I was blessed to be able to branch out and begin event planning/decorator.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello,
My name is Quinnettra Blackshear and I’m the owner of Kreative Events by Quinn formerly know as Quinn’s Balloon Creations. I begin my craft of balloons in June of 2019. This wasn’t something I wanted to do but something I had to do in order to get where I needed to be. I self taught myself the craft of making balloon decorations and becoming an successful balloon artist. Investing in my business became one of the greatest decisions I’ve made. The beginning of year 2022 my hard work finally paid off and I begin my journey in event planning/decorator. There are so many obstacles that I face day to day, client to client. But, it’s very important to stay positive and keep pushing forward. The sacrifices will soon pay off and I will become a well known event planner.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building clientele is one of the hardest struggles for me. I’m always lost of what to say, where to post, and how to advertise l to create a great audience. I had to learn that even though there isn’t many people that loves or share my work on social media, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WATCHING AND NOTICING!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
To start funding my business I started out doing something small. The thing I chose to do were balloon creations. All of the money from those bookings went towards funding my event planning/decorator business.
