We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ella Saul. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ella below.
Alright, Ella thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
My company was previously name Purple Panda Photography, but this name was hard for people to remember so I knew I had to switch it up. So recently I changed my name from Ashley to Ella and I knew I wanted that reflected in my company name as well. I had spent a couple of months brainstorming names, trying to find one that fit and would be memorable. Finally I decided on EllaMint Media, a name that includes who I am and who I want to be, growing to provide different elements of photography to my audience and clientele.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I first got into photography in high school, my family wasn’t one that could really afford all that comes with extra curricular activities, like supplies and travel, but I was gifted a camera for Christmas. While I still couldn’t be a part of the yearbook committee I was able to take a photography class at my school. I was lucky enough to have a teacher that really helped to nurture my creativity and even asked to have some of my photos included in the yearbook because of how much she liked them. Of course I obliged, and that’s where it all began. Over the years I’ve been practicing my craft and aiming to find my own unique style. That being said, I’m always willing to work with a client to make their dream photoshoot come to life. I love trying new things when it comes to photography; finding that right lighting, materials, or angles to provide something uniquely them.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an artist for me is really trying new things and providing something new and unique. I love trying new things and sharing ideas with my clients.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I would recommend new photographers and even models to look into what local groups have meet-ups. I’ve participated in a couple of meet-up groups and it has really helped to grow not only an audience, but also clientele. It’s great for networking and really opens the opportunity to learn from others in your field.
