Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yasmine Moment. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yasmine, appreciate you joining us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero is and will ALWAYS be my “mom “.! My mom has been through so many things she lost her husband my father when my sister and I were young. I was 14 and my sister was 10. She has loss her father, and she just recently loss her mother around the same time we loss my dad. However, she is still going hard and smiling in this thing called “life “. The lessons I’ve learned from my mom is to NEVER GIVE UP and have faith in God, she has taught me that from her saying it and from her actions. Watching her and how she nevers to give up on anything especially my sister and I . This has influenced my journey ALOT in becoming an entrepreneur, a lesbian, black and a masculine woman. Seeing her go through her journey and with my own journey has help me continued to build my strength, charisma, and drive to push through any and everything, whether it’s positive or negative situation. My mother has also taught me to keep my faith in God. And as I become more mature, he’s become more of an influence in my life. I went and decided to get myself baptized again and clear out all negative things and people long as you put your trust in him EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.!!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Hello I’m Yasmine owner of “YatsByYass “you can call me “Yat(s) “I am a Self-Taught, Black, Masculine Lesbian ARTIST (and I always say this loud and proudly ) , I am single and I’m 27 years old, I am chill, laid back, love animals and love to make people happy. I’m a Florida baby (Orlando) and my little sister Nichelle, is my best friend. In my spare time I paint, write music, poetry, cut my own hair and draw
It started off as just a simple tattooing thing, the more I tattooed the more I started falling in love with it and that’s when a friend of mine said you should call yourself YastsByYas and that’s how it turned into “YatsByYassLLC “. I got into the industry by just working hard. Honestly, it’s taken ALOT of “hard work and dedication “and having discipline to be your own BOSS, believe me it IS NOT EASY, you must want to IT! It takes disciplined to push yourself to where you want to be! It’s like prayer you can’t ask GOD to bless you with a job and you’re not filling out the applications. You must do the work. It gets hard and you can lose your discipline and motivation at times. I have to say to myself at times my discipline must outweigh my frustration and my motivation must come from deep inside this helps me push you further!!
I’m different in my artistry because of my energy, and I care for my clients. If I didn’t need money to live, I would definitely “yattoo for free “it isn’t all about the money to me. I care about my clients having an experience they can remember, and they want to come back and tell others about the great experience. I don’t do any piece more than once! I love for everyone to have their own and unique piece that makes them stand out and grabs people attention. I am an artist who takes time to create a special piece for my clients and not just a copy artist (if that’s what you like then by all means do you ). However, if you want something dope and thoughtful made only “for you “then you come see me Yas at YatsByYass.
I’m proud of my HUMBLENESS, MY DRIVE, EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS ME AND MYSELF (I say myself because as PEOPLE we don’t tell OURSELVES enough that we’re proud of ourselves).
I’ll give 6 key points on what I want my potential clients to know
1: RESPECT IS EARNED NOT GIVEN
2: PLEASE DON’T WASTE MY TIME IF YOU KNOW YOU AREN’T READY
3: COME GET YATTED NOT TATTED
4: I AIM TO PLEASE
5: I COLOR ON MELANIN SKIN
6: THIS WILL BE AN EXPERIENCE YOU’LL REMEMBER FOREVER THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
My most rewarding aspect of being an artist is my clients and their reaction. I love people’s reactions; it’s boost of confidence that motivates me to keep striving and going hard. Just hearing the positivity lifts my spirit and makes me want to go even harder on my next piece.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Currently I’m going by “never give up “and “blessed “I say “never give up “ because I have been going through a very rough patch in my business and it has took a mental toll on me. I know sometimes as an entrepreneur you are going to go through rough patches, but this has by far been the most depressing one. I’m not the one who usually puts their feelings out in the open, I’m always the influencer. But I understand we are human we were made to have feelings!! Just always remember It is OK to cry it is a form of healing, it’s ok to be upset and angry this is how we heal and grow. But always remember do not soak in your misery, sadness, anger whatever it is. You go through the motions pray, meditate or whatever it is you do and keep growing. It is hard at times but always remember to “HEAL “before pursuing! That’s in life, relationships, business anything you do. And always remember to say I am “blessed “because despite everything throughout this rough patch we must look around us and see the blessing that we currently have. Me going through my rough patch all I’ve been hearing is GOD telling me that I’m “blessed “despite everything I am blessed. So, I’m thankful for the little things that God has blessed me with. Therefore, when God can bless me with extraordinary things I can always look back and thank him for this journey.
