Alright, V thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

I knew I wanted to pursue music professionally in September 2018 when I went to my first studio.

– I had started posting short 15-30 second videos on my Instagram page (@vskyeofficial) for a couple months in 2018. A man had wrote me through Instagram inviting me to the studio to work with an independent artist by the name of Rev The Artist. We recorded a couple songs & I fell in love with the process of creating music out of nothing & the rest is history. I haven’t been able to stay out of a studio since.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m a 24 year old singer/songwriter from Florida. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember but I’ve been creating music since September 2018. I make R&B/Pop music. I have 4 singles; out now on all platforms. “D’Evil” is a song I wrote about going through an abusive relationship. “Down” is a song about finding love & wondering if they’re down for the ride. “Pin You Down” is a song I wrote about a female I was fantasizing about. “Genie” is my spin of Christina Aguileras classic hit “Genie In A Bottle” with a message that as woman we don’t grant wishes, we are the wish. I have a new single “Chedda” dropping October 14th & this song is for all my bosses getting to their Chedda!

I moved to ATL in March of 2019 after ending an abusive relationship.to pursue my music career.

When I moved to ATL, I didn’t know anyone & was determined to start my career. I had purchased a ring light & decided to start posing in front of a blank wall & posting the pictures on Instagram with hashtags like #Atlphotographers & #atlmodels to meet people in the field. I came across a post for models to submit to a casting for a videoshoot for Bloody Jay feat. Boosie – Thug My Way. I submitted a casting & was booked. It was at that videoshoot that I met Grammy nominated producer Deraj Global who produced my single “D’Evil” . That’s how I got started in the industry.

What sets me apart from other artists Is my eclectic style, I once was told I was as beautiful as the Skye & that the name suited me. So I decided to start playing on the word “skye” within my music & image. I have a strong & powerful voice, I’m relatable within the content of my music. & my music doesn’t sound like anyone out right now. I bring a new & fresh sound to the table.

My brand is all about being your most authentic self & speaking your truth.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing that you’re helping others through your music. That sharing your truths can help someone to deal/cope with their personal struggles as well.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my social media audience from posting videos of me singing, being a brand ambassador for clothing brands like Richkid Clothing Line, Born Again Savage & Exotic Eye Apparel. I’ve built my social media audience also by creating Reels & TikToks to promote my music.

Advice I would give to those just starting to build their social media presence is to stay consistent with posting, even when you feel like your posts aren’t getting the engagement they should, don’t become discouraged. & stop posting. Don’t go chasing clout & viral moments. Be yourself & the right people will gravitate to you.
