We recently connected with Koach Katlyn and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Koach , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career

I believe that we need to focus on training students from a younger age on how to discover and develop their strengths. We have too many students who leave our educational systems unable to determine where they should pursue a career and calling. It is my belief that if we made Life and Leadership Coaching a part of Middle and High School curriculums more students would be prepared for a fulfilling life and career.

It is also my deep belief that every student needs a practical life class on how to balance their finances, buy a home, and other every day life items.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Katlyn, but everyone calls me Koach Katlyn. I always say my career path found me, I didn’t find my career. Growing up I always was involved in leadership of every club I was involved in, cheerleading, modeling, and was a pageant competitor. I held several state and local titles including Mrs. Georgia USA 2019. I was always passionate about cheering people on, serving my community, and making a difference through my influence. That is why I say my career found me!

I got my Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership and became a Certified Maxwell Leadership Coach in 2016. That is when I founded the Koach Katlyn brand and the Koach Katlyn Company. Through my company I host leadership workshops, coach women in leadership, speak in churches/events, my two books, and do a lot of virtual training through online courses. I focus on equipping and empowering women in leadership to lead unapologetically in their spheres of influence.

In addition, in 2017 I began my career in TV hosting! It is a passion of mine! I have hosted on TBN, The Christian View, Atlanta Live, and now my own show, The Koach Katlyn Show. I love being able to encourage others through media! I live to see others live to their fullest potential!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson I had to unlearn is “you can get whatever you put your mind to.” Growing up I always heard this and believed it! However, the reason I had to unlearn it is because it had me going in multiple directions which divided my time and effectiveness in my line of work. What I had to learn is that I can get whatever I put my mind to if I have focus on the right thing for the right season. As a visionary and futuristic person, I found that my weakness was I put my mind on everything I wanted to do for my clients in the next twenty years and not on what I was most effective to do in that year and that season.

What I have found is that singular focus and honest reflection on what I am most effective in teaching this year, is the most effective business method for me.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my social media through videos and post of encouragement. I wanted people to identify Koach Katlyn as someone who is disciplined, encouraging, and a role model to emulate on their journey to succeed. I built my Instagram and Facebook Page and was simply consistent to post both professional and personal items on my page.

My advice to those who are starting to build their social media presence is to stay consistent, say true to you, and post authentically. You really need to post what you truly feel, be honest with who you are, and always make sure each post has a connection to your brand.
