We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Linda Andrews a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Linda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
I would help students remember they are a part of nature, and to help them connect with the natural elements more.
Linda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born and raised in South Florida. I grew up doing ballet and a straight A student. I got into swimming which would change my life forever as I went on to get an athletic scholarship to Rutgers University. This was the beginning of my interest in performance optimization and how I found yoga, to be a better swimmer. I studying Psychology & Journalism in college.
After a few different random jobs, I found myself pursuing my career in finance, following in my dad’s footprints. Simultaneous to my time at the financial firm I was pursuing many different trainings in the wellness field, from plant based culinary, life coaching, yoga, I was on a mission to heal myself from a lot of trauma and to understand and experience optimal wellbeing. Through this journey I got the courage to leave as a VP in Wealth Management to launch my business full time.

I am most proud of the commitment to wellbeing. No matter what is going on in the world I believe we each are empowered by coming back home to self, the clarity and intuition that awakens. No one can breathe for you.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In the end of 2020 I decided to scale the business. I brought on 17 coaches and learned many hard lessons. At the end of 2021 I decided to start over. To scale back, unwind the entity which I had created in 2013 with the DBA Lila Life. This opened the way for Lila Life to essentially relaunch with all these lessons and even failures. Organic growth, profit and knowing your numbers were the biggest lessons of this time. Also, not being afraid to fire quickly if it is not a fit.

Have you ever had to pivot?
When I decided to leave Morgan Stanley, my plan was to start with a well known coaching firm. I had paid $5000 for the “most expensive interview” ever and made it through 3 months of their training program. I was cut on the last day. I had marked on my calendar “my last day,” and I stuck to it. It was a very hard transition, one of the hardest of my life. Letting go of past identities and failures and learning from them, and continuing to step forward with my vision. This is a recommitment daily and gets me up in the morning with extra spirit.
