Shari, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I absolutely love planning, executing and mastering events and everything that comes along with it. My nickname is “Ri” so I named my event company “RiEvents Etcetera”.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I know my gifts from God are organizing and serving in excellence. I also understand I was created to inspire and influence. Everything I do and touch, the audience and/or guest will feel. I take my clients sometimes chaotic ideas and I structure them in an efficient way to get to the ultimate end goal. My first clients dating back to almost 2000, were my mothers clients (she’s a hair stylist). I’ve planned personal events and worked my way to larger community events, fundraisers and weddings. We are a full service event planning company. We offer pretty much anything you need. Planning personal, community and corporate events, for 2-2000 attendees. We handle decor, food/catering, staff, photoshoots and promo for your event, various rentals, car rentals, etc. Everything needed for your event we handle! What are problems? We only face challenges and those… when they occur are handled with ease. The client won’t stress. We take all of that on! What sets me a part is that I won’t ever apologize for my professionalism and productivity. I am timely and push excellent presentation. You either get with it or get on! Lol! I am most proud of my continued progress in this industry. I’m going to be the top planner by the time I’m 40. That’s why I say I’m the event MASTER.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am pivoting as we speak. I am an attorney. I want to completely eliminate that practice to fully focus on RiEvents.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I personally funded everything to start. My legal background offsets a lot of costs as well. I put a lot of profit back into my business to continue to grow it.
