Will , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
What I think it takes to be successful is a heart to serve and a willingness to sacrifice for a definite purpose.
Will , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the idea of being a barber by a simple holiday gift from my grandma making fun of me having to grow up and learn how to shave. I had to learn how to shack around the age of 15. My friends took notice of my beard line ups and wondered who was doing them. I told them it was me and that led to the basement barber session, I’m sure every barber can relate to lol.
As my interest developed, I went on to barber school in Philadelphia, PA. I attended Tri-City Barber School in north Philly we’re I graduated and obtained my license in April of 2007.
A short while after completion of getting my license. I decided to move to Atlanta, Ga and started working as a barber in the downtown area. After 2 years I was fired from that barber shop.
My next move was starting ProFRESHional Cuts LLC in April of 2010. We have expanded into multiple locations across metro atlanta and been in business for 13 years.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My first business I started cost me 20k back April of 2010. Although I don’t recommend this method, here is what I did. My mindset coming from the bottom was I literally have nothing to lose so if I die owing somebody oh well.
I saved $5,000 myself. My grandma gave me $1,000. My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) gave me a $1,000. And I got three $5,000 credit limit cards and went to work!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
How I started to build a following on social media was I started teaching people what I know works.
I shared my challenges and my wins and always be authentic.
