Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maseyree. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maseyree, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I came up with the idea for P-Check after having a surgery that caused my hormones to imbalanced and out of control. I would sweat so bad, especially in my private area. Many years ago, I used to use baby powder but then I started hearing about talc being linked to cancer, so I had to discontinue using powder. I tried the sprays and the creams and the store but neither of them worked for me. At home, I began testing and experimenting with products that I had around the house like cornstarch and baking soda. I would make a paste. These were remedies I got from an aunt, but those pastes weren’t enough. I needed more. The paste was messy and didn’t last all day. So, I began doing research on different natural substances that could help solve the problem. My formula would also have to be safe enough to use around my private area. Eventually I came up with the P-Check formula.
After that, I found a chemist who tested and ensured that my formula was okay for the intended use. For a little over a year, I tested the formula on my sister, myself, friends and family to see if it solved their sweating problem as it had done for me. Everybody was like, that is a great idea and as soon as you get it on the market it is going to be successful because many women have private area sweat issues, but most of them are unwilling to talk about it.
Next, I got a manufacture to mass produce the formula and get it to the market. It wasn’t easy but after almost two years, P-Check was ready to sell.

Maseyree, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Maseyree and I am a woman of many hats. I have worked as a Teacher, Cosmetologist, Author, Screenwriter and Product Developer. So, since I was about eighteen, I have been an entrepreneur. I was born in East St. Louis but raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I moved to Georgia in 1997 so, I guess I would be considered a Peach by now.
I started developing in 2001 and since launching P-Check Wellness in 2017, I have also coached others to pursue their entrepreneurial goals as well. My products are all about Feminine Health and Awareness. I create natural products that keep you fresh from the inside to the out. P-Check Deodorant is for keeping private area fresh and odor free. P-Cleanse Pills are pills that treat UTI, bacterial vaginosis & bladder infection naturally, without antibiotics and they help to regulate mood and gut health. They are natural probiotics that flush away harmful bacteria and replenish with good bacteria. I am very proud of the products that I create because they are all natural and they work. I use them myself.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I came up with the idea to start a business, I knew that I would need extra money. I took a part-time job as a server at a restaurant for 2 years. I saved up the first $10,000 and quit the job. It was hard for me to go and punch a clock after being self-employed for so many years, but in order to get the money I needed, I had to do something extra because working as a freelance writer, it was hard to keep a steady flow of income.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson that I have learned is that in order to get to the million-dollar income status you must have a great team and a great product. I didn’t have the team and that is extremely important because no one person can run a successful business alone. In the first three years of starting up, I worked myself to the bone because it was just me. This can put a toll on you and cause constant burnout, frustration and anxiety. Like, I literally thought that I could do it all by myself and since I didn’t have the funds to pay staff, I had no other choice. I would never recommend starting a company without first developing a good, sound team. Start with yourself and at least two really, really, dependable people whom you can also trust.
