We were lucky to catch up with Indira Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Indira thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
As Fashion Merchandising Major I knew I always wanted to have my own business, it was not until they invited me to a wedding where my cousin suggested that she wanted to rent her father a tuxedo, I needed a dress for myself and thought how come theres all these places where you can rent a tuxedo so easily but not a store where we can rent dresses, it has always be known that women do not like to wear the same dress twice specially now with social media that you upload photos and all people can see it, plus dresses can be very expensive to buy for just one night. Renting a dress not only saves money but reduces the consumption one dress at a time.

Indira, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The Orchid Dress, Dress Rental is a place where you can rent your special occassion dresses from quinceañeras, wedding gowns, evening gowns, prom and we also offer alterations and photopackages that include the dress and accessories.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
We were devasted when covid hit not only because of the lost lives but also we had to close our shop for months I think thats the biggest set back i had to encounter.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I think the biggest strategy someone must really have is honesty and always be good to everyone no matter what, this creates word of mouth and therefore grows your clientele
