Amya, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

My name is Amya Janine known as DA DON or The Branding Don. I’m a 22 year old 6 figure branding coach who loves to help entrepreneurs execute their brands! While growing up I’ve always had an entrepreneur mindset. I was always that little girl trying to sell you at school whether it was with snacks, accessories, creating customized items & etc, that girl who was always sitting in front of YouTube trying to figure out what new things I could learn. I’ve dabbled in almost every industry that you can think of while growing up, but with me once I achieved one goal I was ready to pick up something else. I always used to think maybe those industries wasn’t my passion but the truth is, IT WAS! I was being prepared to step into the pathway I’m on now & didn’t even realize it until the time came. While creating TDA I’m able to work with all the industries I love while watching entrepreneurs bring their brand to life! I started off with graphics in 2020 during the pandemic. I got laid off of both of my jobs due to COVID. During this time I started to pick up on my business venture as a graphic designer. As a year went on I became a 6 figure earner just off of graphics alone. During that time I noticed my clients that I worked with didn’t have any ideas on how to run a business from start to finish, that’s when I created The Don Agency in 2021 helping entrepreneurs break away from the sweat, blood and tears in building their brand and making it easier for them to manage.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

The Don Agency was founded in 2021 in Raleigh NC by Amya Janine. When I first became an entrepreneur I wasted so much time, thousands of dollars, blood, sweat & tears into trying to find the right strategies, classes and blue print to create successful brands. Even through the trials and tribulations of the business world I learned how to become a successful entrepreneur and grew tremendously. Now I want to teach other entrepreneurs how to do the same. There are so many entrepreneurs that are tired of trying to figure everything out on their own spending ridiculous hours & money. Here at TDA we create successful brands offering a ONE STOP BUSINESS SHOP to our students. Here at TDA we give our students the access to the tools, training and resoures you need to elevate into a bigger bag. Creating one platform you can access to graduate to success! If you have a vision to start a business & have no idea where to start or have a business you want to scale or grow, we will guide you along the right journey. Our goal at TDA is to teach you how to NOT chase a bag but have the bag chase YOU and most importantly love what you do!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

During this time of my entrepreneurial journey I learned that you need a team! Having a team is so important, you can’t do everything on your own. Especially while trying to create something that’s bigger than you. I was the entrepreneur that was always trying to run my business on my own because I thought I was superwoman but the truth is this superwoman was drained! Imagine being the CEO, marketing officer, graphic designer, manager, shipper, etc. It’s not fun trust me. That’s why it’s important to know your SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & threats). Once you have an idea of your strengths and weaknesses you can delegate your team. Let people help you! Your brand will be so much powerful and fulfilling.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Yes! This is a great question. I created my brand when I was at my lowest. I just had got fired from my job in November of 2020. I remember crying to my mom asking her what I was going to do and she immediately stopped me and said ” Amya you’re not meant to work for nobody else” and when she said that my mindset immediately changed. I started working on my brand and I wrote down my vision on a piece of paper and I read my vision every morning and every night. I worked on my brand so hard for 3 months straight while being unemployed. In January of 2021 I made my brand official, I then began to work & help entrepreneurs with their brand. I was able to get my luxury apartment and office space by March of 2021, by November of 2021 I was a 6 figure entrepreneur. It’s amazing how fast God works in your life when you take a leap of faith! Going from being fired from a job that didn’t see my full potential to working for myself and making 6 figures within a year!
