We recently connected with Brion Robinson and have shared our conversation below.
Brion, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
Looking back at the experiences I’ve had from adolescence to my adult years have been full circle for me. I’ve worked with majority small businesses throughout my working career which has shaped me to create my own vision and execute it the way i see fit and the value be so much bigger than me. Truthfully, I had a hard time following the rules with my previous employers because we didn’t have the same vision and it never felt true to who I am. Early on, I always knew that I was meant to be with my mentors and companies to help mold my vision properly; learning the ropes, getting business advice, actually helping companies startup and make mistakes on their dime before my own. Branching out on my own this year was something that I knew i was ready for. I’ll tell anyone who is looking to start their business to do it! ALWAYS BET ON YOURSELF! You’d rather see the fruits of your labor and execute to the best of your ability, than resent the moments you had to pursue your targets. I’m blessed to have a strong foundation and support system since I’ve started. Mentors, advisors, colleagues, family and friend support have been overflowing and I’ve made so many connections that it can be a tad overwhelming, but its best to network. Keep the line of communication open because someone can think of you and refer you business.
A key tip in starting in your first 1-2 years is to ride the rollercoaster. You’ll have a wide range of emotions, but it builds you up for those slow seasons, excited moments, and moments on gratitude. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your winning streak, but there’s beauty in your solitude as well.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey beautiful people, my name is Brion Robinson and I’m the owner of Wholistic Embrace Massage and Wellness. At Wholistic Embrace, we offer holistic massage therapy services, postpartum doula services, herbalism products, and consultations to our clients. The target for clients is offer them with the tools to have a city of wellness at their fingertips. So often do we feel that we have to outsource everything, but the long term goal is fill them with the knowledge and resources necessary for them to live wholistically. The biggest accomplishment I have is for my clients to thrive without me. I know it may sound odd, but its a blessing for a teacher to learn from their students and this is where I’d like to leave my impact. For example, there was a client who knew for the fall and winter seasons that their household gets sick, os they went and grabbed the herbs and recipes to make syrups, steams, teas and soups to prepare for the season. They were so excited to tell me that everything worked out and only 1 member of the family was sick and they were able to remedy them back to health. Elated was an understatement for me. I was reeling at the thought that they just knew exactly what to do from a previous consultation!
After all is said and done, Wholistic Embrace is an overall holistic powerhouse in the Greater Houston area. We are on the way to becoming a full encompassing wellness center for the community, specifically the African American community.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Whew, this is a moment. Recently, I’ve had to come to terms with ending business relationships. It sounds easy, but so often do we just forget the relationship altogether and be done. However, after having a conversation with my spiritual mother, she reminded me to not resent, be envious, or even give the energy to the old relationship and just be so thankful for the lessons. Normally, I’d still fester over the relationship and how it could have been different, but it feels good to release the feelings over it and just bask in the gratefulness of the many lessons I’ve encountered and eventually over standing the responsibility and purpose of my business mission.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Staying successful in my field is mainly rooted in authenticity and faith. Without these two pivotal aspects, I don’t think that I’d be actually pursuing my targets. It’s easy to get lost in someone else’s vision and trying to find where you belong, but staying rooted in my faith and bringing out the best aspects of myself what’s kept me successful, so for that I’m forever grateful.
