We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Casper Alexander a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Casper, appreciate you joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I have been blessed to have my creative abilities become a full time gig. I started making music in high school. Never really thought about the business side. In college, I learned I enjoy the marketing side of music, along with the performance and creation. There was a time when I was curating events, touring, creating marketing campaigns for artists, and making my music. I was also still holding down a serving job. That was a time where I realized I was almost there. This was about 5 years ago. In the last 2 years, I started all of it back due to Covid forcing me out of my serving job. I came to the realization I don’t want to ever be laid off again. Since then I’ve created and focused on my brands: CHISongwriter, Love Myself Clothing, Project 803, The Jingle Firm, Where The 309 Meets, 309Fest, Casper Consulting, & Eye Heart 2 Clothing. Diversifying my endeavors has really helped with becoming full time. One of my favorite milestones is reaching about 1M streams on The Jingle Firm’s Errand Up Jingle. Overall, I believe in divine timing. With that being said, there’s no need to speed up the process. What’s meant will be.

Casper, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started writing and being into music as a kid. I was a nerd for music. I knew who all my favorite rappers were signed to. I wrote it all down from the credits. In my teenage years, I start recording and putting songs out. Now I’ve been put in a position to create my brands and help others while doing. There is a long list of services and products I provide. Songwriting, performing, acting, voice overs, marketing strategies, clothing, jingles, event curating, performance opportunities, and consulting. I want to walk in a creative space and be able to add value. With all my brands, I want to give people a sense of work ethic, self love, and passion.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The best way to support the creatives is sharing their work. That’s a free way. Three other ways are going to the locally curated events, buying merch and products, & referring others to the creatives work, products, and services.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love giving people something that affects them in a positive way, whether it’s fun at one of my shows, inspiration from my work ethic, or knowledge.
