Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mi’Chel Bombshell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mi’Chel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I think for any creative or business owner the common goal is earning a full-time living on your craft alone. Thank God that I had enough faith to take that leap and be blessed enough to actually be successful in it. However it was not always that easy. I had no confidence in my craft early and doubted myself. Doubt, is nothing other than a form of fear, and is what holds most of us back from taking that leap of faith towards our dreams.
I have started over numerous of times and I will continue to do so until I get the outcome I want. However the first time I ever took that leap of faith, is when I decided to leave Atlanta and drive back home to Kansas City, MO, to attend school for my Esthetician’s license. I slept on my moms couch for an entire year while I attended school. My car was repossessed a week before school started so I also no longer had a car. Thank God for my family for taking me back and forth between school and work; without them I would not have finished school when I did.
Although this was a rough patch for me, as a part of me felt like I had failed by having to move back home and start over, I actually was more motivated than defeated. I’m good at getting back up, because I believe that with God by my side nothing I want can’t be accomplished.
Two years later just as I had finally built a good foundation and get on my feet, sort of of making home, home again I uprooted myself yet again quitting my well-paying corporate job, which was able to provide me a certain lifestyle that I had acquired since being back home, left my beautiful apartment that I had worked my butt off for, and moved back to Atlanta, GA with only $3000 saved up, and maybe $5500 of available credit on my credit cards. I took my new Benz down with me and a U-haul with my things and began my life again for a second time in Georgia.
I say all of that to say that you will definitely encounter many obstacles, and it’s never a smooth ride to the top. I still face challenges and knowing that where I am today is not my final destination, I know that I’ll face many more. However, you can never let that deter you from your goals. If you want it, go get it!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always been interested in all things beauty, growing up around a Mom who is a hair stylist. I love everything from hair and nails, to makeup and interior design. The main reason I didn’t start sooner is because of fear. If I never had doubted my craft and cared about others opinions I would’ve started sooner. Once I set fear aside and started working on faith, my life changed for the better.
I provide esthetic services, such as makeup and brows. I also have a luxury cosmetic line, “Beauty By Mi’Chel” that provides top quality mink lashes, lip gloss, lip liner, and highlighters. Beauty By Mi’Chel is constantly growing and expanding daily and has a bright future. You have to be very disciplined and INTENTIONAL when it comes to your success in anything in life, and that’s what I had to do. My business did not take off until I took it serious and became consistent, and that’s what sets me aside from other Makeup Artists outside of my raw talent. In addition to that, I’m skilled in several different styles of makeup, including special effects and runway, as well as being available 24/7. I don’t like to t overly edit my work, and most times I don’t edit at all. I not only work late hours when booked, but I offer a $15 discount if I am more than 15 minutes late for your appointment. I treat my clients with the same courtesies I would want as a customer, and I believe that’s why my clients come back.
I am most proud of my business itself! Knowing that it’s mine, it’s growing, it’s beautiful and it’s here to help women feel better about themselves. My intentions are for women to look at the services I provide as more than just makeup. It’s therapy, it’s showing them that they are deserving of luxury without feeling guilty about treating themselves, and DANG IT, take a selfie while you’re at it! To my future clients I can’t wait to service you and to help you relax, if even for a moment in time I’ll have you leave feeling and looking amazing! You will NOT be disappointed in the services you receive or the money you spend!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to help change other women’s lives through makeup, and start a Makeup Academy to teach makeup and business. I want to help women of all ages who want to start their own makeup business and learn how to make six figures from their dream job. I want to change lives and empower women through my art.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Being that everything is social media based and businesses have started from social media alone, I believe the easiest, quickest, most cost effective thing society can do to support creatives, is share their work, like their post, or comment. If you want to go a step further, book them, buy from them, hire them! You won’t believe how far any of these small things can go or how much it matters to the person you’re supporting, So go like, share, and comment on the next small business owner or creatives page that you come across.
