Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anthony Keaton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anthony, appreciate you joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?

T.O.N.E.-z’s family roots run deep in the world of hip hop (his brothers are Special K of
the seminal rap group Treacherous Three and he,
too, has carved out his own unique place in music and video.
He came to prominence with an Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music Emmy
nomination for co-writing “Long Hard Times To Come” of the award-winning FX series
Justified.
“Long Hard Times” grabbed 3 million views on YouTube, over over 4 million streams on Spotify, sold over a quarter of a million copies boosting T.O.N.E.-z’s
acting career, playing a henchman on Justified. (His first screen appearance was in
Philadelphia, starring Tom Hanks.)
Through his work on Justified, he became friends with actor Alicia Witt with whom he
partnered on the powerful “My Baby Girl,” a song about the pain of miscarriage based
on his personal experience.
His movie credits include starring roles in Clarity, Frances Stein, The Dying Fields, Award winning short film SED!
Thirst (also, co-producer and co-writer), Shining Spirit (co-producer and soundtrack
executive producer), plus the forthcoming When I Held The Key and documentary I
Chose Life: Stories of Suicide and Survival.
In 2016, he teamed up with mega-remix producer Brad Walsh (Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga,
Rihanna, Beyoncé) on “Check My Fresh.” His latest collaboration is with rock ’n’ roll
legend Tommy James on James’s newest album Alive, on which he adds his signature
raps to a reworking of James’s classic “Draggin’ The Line,” The Rolling Stones’ “The
Last Time,” and an exciting new Tommy James song “Slam.”
He has recently recorded a new song “The Parallel” about anti bullying for a Documentary movie “Bullies & Friends”

In 2020 T.O.N.E-z has just linked up with best selling author Stephen Miller (who also wrote Gene Cornish of the Rascals Book) to write a book about T.O.N.E-z! Stay tuned for a 2020 release! In short, T.O.N.E.-z is a multi-talented, twenty-first century Renaissance Man whose star
will most certainly shine brightly in the years to come.
March 2021 T.O.N.E-z has released his new album “Follow The Yellow Rose ” inspired by the late MIA ZAPATA from the Seattle band The Gits. It features Alicia Witt,Artimus Pyle (from Lynyrd Skynyrd) Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez (from Bruce Springsteen E Street band) and T.O.N.E-z has linked up again with Tommy James for a remake of Tommy’s hot song “Candy Maker”!
April 20 2021 T.O.N.E-z released his first poetry book entitled “Nautm Pati” on amazon Kindle (E Book) & (Paperback)!
October 8th will be T.O.N.E-z last and final album “TONEzWorld” 17 songs! Featuring production from Rench of gangstagrass,DjJs1 plus more! Also featuring Doodlebug from the Grammy award winning hip hop group Digable Planets!
2022 T.O.N.E-z is working on “Justified-Behind The Scenes” Documentary. Six seasons of T.O.N.E-z filming onset, afterparties plus tons of extra footage!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I would send my songs to tons of record labels and would get rejected so I decided to make my songs and release them on my own and have been doing extremely well ever since. I did the same with tv and movies, when I couldn’t get in tv shows or movies I would just show up on sets and talk my way on to the films lol hey it worked!
