Makatelyn , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission is simple: confidence for everyone. There is a desire to fulfill the void that so many individuals have with the trope of being and staying confident. NO matter what the circumstance is, or who the people are. Confidence, on so many levels, is the gap between believing in yourself and coupling that with achieving your dreams. The dreams the God gives you, and allows you to perform through the confidence that is given from him everyday. It is my mission and goal to equip and educate all individuals on the confidence within.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is my MaKatelyn Shepherd and I am an educator and lover of all things people and confidence. I began Closet Confidence at the end of 2017 and since then God has done amazing things within the business and within myself personally as the business owner. Today, in 2022 I stand in awe of the grace given to me to continue to spread awareness and love about confidence through my business. I am revamping a lot. For the business , that just looks like new opportunities, new ides, new teams, new grace and a lot of NEW confidence. I am proud of where we are going from here and the avenues we will open up for people under the name of CONFIDENCE.
Mission : To spread confidence to all ages, genders and backgrounds making those individuals aware of the Confidence within themselves and how they can take the necessary steps to build that confidence. With advice given through motivational speaking, clothing that inspires and inspiration for feeling and staying confident, it is our mission to push confidence with topics that challenge the individual to look deeper within themselves as an individual. It is the mission of Closet Confidence to leave someone feeling more confident than they started out.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I believe I had to unlearn was the idea that you can never learn more. To be a great leader you always have to remain teachable and that is something that I stand by daily as I walk in the role of being a leader and a business owner. There was a time in my life where I thought that if you learned something once, that there could be no more information internally received. However, we know that is far from the truth. Shifting your perspective and opening up your mind allows you to remain teachable and not only broadens your avenue for different opportunities, but allows you to try new things and use your confidence.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think having resilience is a never ending journey. However something that has made me resilient and it’s all right is being and staying confident. I am a person who believes that no one is 100% confident every single day in every little thing that they do, but there is hope. I am glad and grateful for being able to learn new things, try new things, experience new things, have new opportunities presented it to me, but I think remaining confident is my biggest journey. Life does get hard, things do get in the way and things happen, but you have to be grounded in something so why not be grounded in the confidence that God gives! Reminding yourself that confidence also means trust, hope, belief, faith in all things!
