We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chelsea Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chelsea below.
Chelsea, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I started with Modern Nature to have financial stability or as some may say a “Side Hustle” after having my son. I quickly realized, it’s not about the money. I help people make the switch to vegan, cruelty free haircare, skincare and wellness products. Do you know how much chemicals are in your shampoo or in your skincare regimen? I share stories, transformations and also help others make an income. Whether you’re a college student needing extra money, a mom that needs help financially or you just want financial freedom, you can do exactly what I do. Make the switch to vegan products and share with your friends and family. It’s a win-win situation!

Chelsea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got started by using Modern Nature products due to having postpartum hair loss and then a friend said “you know you can share your story and build clients and actually make money” so that’s exactly what I did. My job didn’t provide me with paid leave when I had my son so I needed to find a way to make money. I am a solver! I am a solver of hair problems, skin problems, wellness problems and financial problem and I’m proud of how far I have came in this business. There have been times where I felt I didn’t have the support or failed but failure is a part of success. Show up for your business everyday!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media is hands down the best source of new clientele. When you don’t think anyone is watching your reels, stories or tik toks you’ll be surprised! Post about your business, talk about it on Live or your stories and be yourself. Besides social media, networking events are also another way to get new clients because you are speaking to people in person and you have the chance to give samples of your products.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funny story! I had no money when I started my business. I just had my son and I didn’t get paid leave from my job but I KNEW I wanted more. I wanted to be a business owner, so I pulled out my credit card and bought a product pack which was $349. That’s how much it cost to start my business with Modern Nature . With that $349, I got hair, skin, and wellness products, samples to give to people, my own website and training/materials I needed to succeed in this business. Not to mention, the $349 I used to start my business, I got back the next month thanks to my wonderful, loyal clients.
