We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Natosha Harris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Natosha below.
Natosha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
I have recently! I hadn’t done much traveling these last few years other than road trips because I have a 5 year old and I was trying to keep us a safe as possible during the pandemic.
I use to travel a lot before becoming a mom. I truly believe I experienced mom anxiety for a while because I wouldn’t leave her side for the first year or 2. I would feel guilty or anxious.
Becoming a mom and entrepreneur requires me to have some me time and to get away. I think it’s important to remove yourself from work whether it is for a couple of hours or a few days to let your mind explore something other than WORK!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Well, my name is Natosha Harris. I am from and reside in Memphis, TN. I was actually born in Jackson, TN where my mom and dad met at Lane College. My dream never entailed me becoming an author or having a writing company providing book publishing service. My plan was always to work in a hospital as a nurse or being some sort of administrator.
Once I had my daughter in 2017, I realized that it was time to create and leave a legacy for my child even if I had to start out small. My first venture was self publishing my first book, “My Love Journal” by A Mouthful in 2018. Once wind of me writing caught people’s attention, I stated getting a few freelance gigs so I started up the writing service where I was doing simple resumes, creating letters, and helping college students write APA formatted papers. A year after that I got my first client that I helped publish and that is where all the REAL lessons started on book publishing and actually building packages to provide the appropriate services. Along with writing services I became a TN public notary which has brought on more detailed and professional writing skills and experience.
I am most proud of never quitting! There have been times when I felt I wasn’t good enough or that I didn’t know enough but I’ve learned. A few skills that becoming a business owner has helped me shape better are building better customer experiences, processes, and execution.
Summer 2022 I learned book cover designing which has added an essential relief because this year has taught me that although I can source work out, I needed to know the process myself.
A few things that I would like anyone to know about me is that I’m super authentic, I am for sure a team player, and my passion is to help. Writing has been proven to be how I can help!
I forgot to mention the name of my business…
“A Mouthful Writing Services”
And I often get the question asking, “Why that name”?
…I have been known to be the friend that “tells it like it is” with a personality to match. If you’ve ever read anything I’ve written it also explains the raw realness that can be felt.
Anything writing with personality is what I do!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A huge lesson I had to unlearn was that my customer is not actually always right. As an empath in business I always want to make sure I am pleasing everyone. I have learned to say “no” without backing down and meaning it all while I smile and be polite.
My calling is to help everyone and learning to know when to say no was a very important lesson as well. I would say yes to things and over extend myself which was causing delays in projects. Learning to prioritize ME has been a very important lesson.

What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is that I get to use my emotions as tools to create things unseen that are attention grabbing and satisfying to others. The biggest reward is the freedom of it all. I can be sitting by the beach or relaxing in the tub working. It’s liberating to me.
