Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cory Robinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cory, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
A key defining moment was actually when my 3 year relationship had ended. Up until this point I felt as if I had always had my career and dreams on the back burner. Everything had first changed as soon as this relationship had fell apart. Almost instantly I had turned all my passion back on and had really gone all in on myself. I focused on elevating my physical fitness and decided I needed to post my progress and content for all to see. Before I had been posting content inconsistently and I knew it wasn’t enough for what I wanted to do. Mentally I took a lot of time to grow and learn myself. I faced struggles everyday but I knew if I stayed consistent that I could impact people worldwide and that’s exactly what I did. I truly believe that if I didn’t get out of that relationship then I wouldn’t have made the huge strides and progress that I have in the past year and a half and so, I am grateful for that moment every single day. Even though at the time, it was difficult and I didn’t fully understand it. Now it is easy to see and understand that it was for the best and I am a firm believer of; if you stick with something and you love it then the rest will all fall into place. The biggest takeaway I learned was to believe in myself. Always and to trust the process. My advice for anyone else reading this is to trust the process. Sometimes it is hard to see why something is happening but with enough time, the results become clear.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born and raised in Missouri. I didn’t get into fitness and calisthenics until I was 20 years old. I remember it like it was yesterday… I was fed up with life and my current circumstances. I just had this overwhelming feeling like I needed to make a change but I didn’t know what to do. I have learned that action is your best friend in these circumstances. So that’s exactly what I did. I quit my job and moved to Columbia Missouri to go to school at the university of Mizzou. I had just discovered street workouts and calisthenics through YouTube which I watched a lot of growing up. I immediately felt compelled to start learning this. I spent hours watching videos on how to start. Then I started running up to my local park and doing workouts every single day. Half the time I didn’t even know what I was doing but I was learning so it was okay. I felt great. I was motivated every day and quickly learned what my body was capable of. Fast forward a year or two and school wasn’t working. I moved back home and wanted to pursue personal training. People were asking me what I did, fitness and diet questions and it was at this point that I had realized I can make a difference with this and help other people. Immediately after moving home I got my personal trainer certificate and started working at a local gym. I quickly realized that this wasn’t the exact work I wanted to do (working for the gym) so I left and started my own personal training service company. I now am in a position to help millions of people around the world learn calisthenics and start their fitness journey. I have built a social presence through my intense and often inspiring workouts. This has allowed me to reach millions of people around the world learn calisthenics. I offer 1 on 1 online coaching services, do local in person training, have digital e guides for beginners to learn from all while creating informational, educational and motivating content for millions to see. I think what sets me apart is my unique ability to connect with people online and inspire and motivate them to be better every single day through fitness. Fitness changed my life and I can now happily say that I am helping others do the same and I am most proud of that. The main thing I want people to know is that calisthenics is for everyone. You don’t need expensive gym memberships or equipment as I teach people how to get into shape and accomplish any fitness goals with just their bodyweight. I promise if you think you can’t you can and a lot of people just need some extra help or guidance to get exactly where they want to be. The power of fitness goes far beyond just physical health and I am excited to share that with people!
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think connecting with people is so important for succeeding in my field. A lot of what I have done has been through social media but I don’t believe that people would have allowed me to get to where I am if I did not offer value to them and build trust. Connecting with people and helping people for free for many years and even now still offering support and guidance allows me to continue to grow and be successful.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have tried many different career paths in my life. I have tried College, EMT/Fire, Retail, Sales, Financial advising, personal training, Car detailing, managing and much much more. I have had to pivot many times and the one that sticks out the most is more recent. I was a car wash Manager for 5+ years and I learned a ton from this job. I started when I was 16 and ended up working for the company a majority of my life almost 10 years total. I just recently had to leave this job in order to pursue my dreams full time. This was a major decision for me and was quite difficult to make. I know it ended up being the right thing even though it has only been a month since I left. My best advice for someone is to pivot when you have the opportunity to pivot. I was making more than my full time job for many months which made the decision easier. Also I never think there is a right time to pivot but rather that you will know when it is time. I loved my job and miss it at times but in order to grow we must often let go of old habits and past experiences to learn new ones.
