We were lucky to catch up with Melody Smith Riggins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Melody, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
We all admire Leaders in our lives because they “show up” with bravery to take on the things we are unable to or can’t see ourselves doing. However, my dedication is to ensure the restoration of leaders on the brink of a burnout. Here is what a client shared: I’m forever thankful for my Life Coach Melody R. The Forwardologist. She’s challenged me to not restrict my life to the expectations of others and truly live my life to the fullest potential. Meaning the whole me and not a portion of.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At a young age she experienced many heartaches disappointments and broken trust. In that she learned to mask her identity in order to overcome the pain she suffered in silence. This would create many years of depression, attempted suicide, low self-esteem, never feeling good enough, the girl that was bullied, the girl who was too dark and one who walked in doubt. One day while reading a book titled “Broken Crayons Still Colors” by David Weaver, she truly came into the know of who she is although broken my purpose changes not. This is when she got her voice, strength, and boldness to be her and do it “Unapologetically.”
Change didn’t come overnight for it would be many years until she came to know Melody and to start to get everything that was destined for her. It has been a journey and still at times a Rocky Road.
Although, suffering in silence she was committed to help others as many would seek her wisdom in like situations. The ability to help guide others through their times of need would later give her insight to her. God-given purpose.
This taught the importance of family and established a sense of belonging. Although her passion was discovered early, Melody understood the necessity of being groomed by God to become effective with her calling.
Today she personifies what it means to ascend above adversity while inspiring countless others to do the same.
Having honed her expertise for over a decade, her work is a testament to what it means to leave an undeniable mark on the world.
She inspires. She empowers. She unleashes.
Melody is Extraordinary at walking others through radical transformation, she is as relentless about her clients’ success as she is her own. She is more than their coach, she’s, their champion.
Because she doesn’t simply change lives – she expands them.
All of life’s encounters birthed Coach Melody R. The Forwardologist of Moving Forward with Melody.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the lesson of not being silent thinking it would make me disappear. My silence stemmed from the many tragedies I encountered as a child. I allowed it to take my voice. I learned that although I was fragile and would encounter much heartache and grief in life, it would never identify who I am or my purpose.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I believe that many people go through identity crisis in their career. For so long I was content in having a job and not understanding that it would keep me in a place of starvation. I was hungry and could never get the fulfillment of being full. Many years would pass before I realized I was not walking in purpose. Therefore, my passion and fire could never be fueled. One day in my meditation with God He spoke my purpose. This began the transition of moving from a place of comfortablity to a place of being uncomfortable. Transitioning will sometimes produces losses but the latter return is always greater. I had to move from a place of knowing to a place of trusting.
