We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tasha Thurmond Carlie Beran. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tasha Thurmond below.
Tasha Thurmond , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
The simple answer is — YES! We love being business owners and have been truly blessed to have our dreams become a reality.
We would be lying if we didn’t think about having a regular job, when things become stressful. Owning a business comes with major responsibility.
Particularly during the onset of Covid-19 in the US, it definitely would of been easier to simply be an employee. As an employee neither of us would of had to carry the weight of making sure each person in our company was okay financially, and most importantly had a job to come back to. On top of that, we had to worry about how to provide the safest environment for both stylists and our guests to come back to after the shutdown.
Despite the stressors that are bound to come our way, the joy of having something that’s ours and making a difference in the industry will only drive us to grow our dreams!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Carlie and Tasha met in 2014. The dynamic duo had no idea then how unstoppable they would be in the years to come. They became industry leaders, highly- sought after hair artists, and educators in their craft.
In December 2019, knowing that they had carved their names into the industry, Carlie and Tasha were ready to raise the bar. They wanted to open a salon that allowed them to create a more personalized experience for their guests.
It didn’t take long for the ladies to brainstorm a vision that would include luxurious surroundings, and intimate atmosphere, and a group of hand picked Elite Artists working together to create the perfect guest experience.
Salon Elite was born!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Salon Elite was opened it’s doors on March 7, 2020. Little did Carlie and Tasha know that a world wide pandemic, Covid-19, would close their doors within the first few weeks of business.
Instead of Carlie and Tasha giving up, they showed major resilience in the mist of what would, both mentally and financially, bankrupt most business owners.
The duo were able to stabilize their company to meet the crisis at hand while finding opportunities amid difficult constraints.
Carlie and Tasha stayed focused on the horizon and grew their brand new company in a time period that threw what could of been a devastating curve ball their way.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Carlie and Tasha met in 2014, when Tasha hired Carlie as her associate. The duo immediately clicked. Tasha, one of St. Louis’ top hair artists, began to elevate, the newly graduated, Carlie’s skills behind the chair. These ladies quickly became unstoppable.
