Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keona Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Keona, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m currently in the process of rebranding my clothing brand, building my website, finding more methods to network with different brands and building more clientele.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Keona Johnson , I have my own clothing brand which is SecureTheBag&Co. I have been pursing my dream for 4 years ,December 2022 will make 5 years. About 4 years ago , me and my dad had a t shirt machine at home. He was aware I used to always say SecureTheBag, so he pursued me to start putting SecureTheBag on t shirts. With my brand I sell Hats, Beanies, Shirts, and SweatPants. My motivation and hustle sets me apart from others, I want to show everyone to always follow your dreams. I’m proud of my rebranding I just did for my business and my photoshoot for my website that is launching July. 22,2022. I will like for my followers to interact with my website, come support me at my popup shops, and enroll in my mobile text alerts.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
At the beginning , when I first started my clothing brand I was taking preorders until I was able to keep merchandise on-hand. When starting your business off most business owners don’t start off with a lot of merchandise until they have a nice amount of clientele and that’s exactly what I did. Funding your business comes with trust and patience. Why? You have to trust the process of making a profit, you can invest into your business and may not see your profit until a month or two later maybe sooner. I remained patient and believe in myself. I disciplined myself on how to keep my personal funds separate from my business funds. With that being said I did allow myself to become discouraged when I was not making everyday sales. I learned to continue to invest in my passion, remain dedicated, and grow within my clientele.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I have started hosting my own Pop-Up Shop to give all small business owners the opportunity to network with other vendors and sell their merchant to local residents.
