Loveleen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Can you recall a moment that set your future in a COMPLETELY different direction? So much so, that you look back and think, WOW if it wasn’t for that moment, my life would be something else today.
I bet you do.
For me, THAT moment happened in the Summer of ’13, on a hot and humid afternoon, in the middle of downtown Houston.
That day, during my lunch break, I went for my usual afternoon walk.
I kept walking on the concrete pavement, immersed in my own world, watching my feet take one step after another. My cold body was slowly thawing with the bright sun. Cars were rushing by, one after another, people were walking, chatting & going for lunch.
It was a typical day of my corporate life in downtown Houston.
And then…after 20 minutes of my walk, I heard a whisper. Now downtown is usually PRETTY loud, but that didn’t seem to matter. I still heard that soft voice.
I knew where it was coming from. So I didn’t turn around. I just kept walking.
It came in a flash of a second and said, “My dear, why don’t you start bringing a journal with you?”
And before I could respond, out it went. Just a soft tap in my heart and whoosh…it was gone.
I’m pretty sure this voice was trying to talk to me for many many years. Maybe yelling sometimes too. But I was always busy to pay attention.
Until that afternoon in Summer of ’13.
On that hot & humid day, despite the loud chatter of outside world, I heard that faint voice. And I gently responded…”ok, I will”.
When I reached home that evening, I went to my meditation room and picked up a beige colored handmade journal that was gathering dust. It was a gift that I never used. Maybe I was waiting for this day in my life? I went down and kept it in my purse.
Next day, when the clock struck noon, I took the journal out, grabbed two gel-pens from my desk, one black, one red, and off I went for my afternoon walk.
I walked 15 minutes till I reached my favorite spot. It was a tiny green patch in the middle of tall buildings. It had a huge oak tree.
Everything around me was busy as usual, with traffic, noise and people…but that tiny green patch was the most peaceful spot. It was my zen zone.
I sat under that oak tree, opened my journal and looked at it. I let my hand feel it’s texture. It had rough edges, lots of imperfections and completely unique, just like all handmade things. Just like us.
I took out the black gel-pen, signed my name on the left, wrote the title “Journal of Creative Insights” on the right. And created my first doodle – a heart with a bunch of doodle hearts.
That was the moment, when my life changed and set into motion everything that I am today.
My Soul rediscovered the love of doodling and art. And I’ve never looked back since that Summer of ’13.

Loveleen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I am Loveleen Saxena, the artist, designer & expert doodler behind LOVELEEN. We make vibrant spiritual art, gifts and accessories to help you live with bold intention.
More than ten years working in the corporate world of construction, I felt a nudge to doodle on my lunch breaks. That surprise calling turned into a daily ritual, and before long I was selling my prints at local markets—and my business was born.
Now I’m a full-time, self-taught artist and designer, and my doodles are no longer limited to the lunch hour. Putting pen to
paper is my spiritual practice, where I channel higher teachings into artwork that eventually transform into scarves, tea towels, journals, mantra coasters and more.
My art, gifts and accessories are timeless treasures that will lift you up and remind you of your highest path and purpose.
Positive intention drives every choice at my brand. From the materials we use to the way we ship your purchase, everything has been considered with you and Mother Earth in mind. Each product is crafted from my hand-drawn doodles and infused with intention. Plus one tree is planted for every product purchased.
Whether it’s a bright red makeup bag that inspires joy during your morning routine, or a green throw pillow in your
office reminding you to stay calm during tense meeting, every product is the soul nudge you need to help you
stay focused on any intention.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest thing I had to unlearn is the starving artist syndrome that’s still prevalent in our society.
It’s a paradigm that still stops many people from doing what they love and express their creativity. Hard choices between pursuing arts or having a successful career. Well in fact, you can have it all! You can pursue art/creative career and really thrive doing it!
First few years of my business I struggled putting a price tag on my work, because I was afraid of rejection, afraid no one will buy my art if it’s too high, or felt ashamed asking for money because I should be happy since I’m doing what I love.
All these beliefs within me stopped me from claiming my throne as a creative. Once I ditched the starving artist syndrome, my sales started growing and my business started thriving as well. It was not because society changed overnight! It was because I changed my own belief that you can thrive doing what you love.
If anyone who is thinking about pursuing a creative path – I would say shed light on the limiting beliefs you have around money, value of artists/creatives and success. Once your inner world is clear, success comes easy.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Here are a few things we all can do to best support artists, creatives & a thriving creative ecosystem:
1. Genuinely recognize the value creatives and artists provide. You cannot imagine a world without music, dance, movies, visual art, murals, books. If there’s an artist or creative in your family, ask them about what inspires them, how they create what they create…it brings us creatives a lot of Joy!
2. Make intentional choices while shopping. Looking for gifts? Shop from a local artist or brand. Visit local art events, festivals and farmers market. You’ll be amazed at the creativity that fills these spaces. Instead of shopping Black Friday, wait till Small Business Saturday after Thanksgiving. Yes life is convenient when you buy things from big stores, but the joy you give when you shop local & small is priceless.
3. Spread the word. The best marketing tool for creatives and artists is word of mouth and referrals. Because we buy from people we trust! So if you come across a new song, tell your friends about it. Love a product from a sustainable brand? Take a photo and send it to your bestie who happens to be an earth warrior. Use the power of your social network to support an artist or creative you know, even if they haven’t asked you :) Because I’m pretty sure they’re busy planning their next event and market.
