We recently connected with Willie Fortune and have shared our conversation below.
Willie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
The most important factor of my success and brands is God, and Community. God is the locksmith to open doors, and your business has to mean and do something for those in it and apart of it. Those two things have been the biggest success tools.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Aside from being a 12 year professional boxer and fitness guru. Being a creator of the brands such as Jabs Gym and the workout Boyo™️ Which is boxing style yoga. I’m very proud of the community that Boyo™️ Has build and I only plan on making it bigger. Teaching the balance and similarities of boxing and yoga from breathing to using your core and focus on what you can do. The only difference is in yoga we harness it, in boxing we release it.
Was building a brand easy? I would say it comes naturally but it has its challenging moments.
Being faced with testing times made me are a better thinker outside the box , all things come with pros and cons like long hours, being the one responsible for your teams growth but the lessons learned I wouldn’t change for anything.
I would like to share my brand with all that feel the need to channel their energy. Build Confidence, Release tension, stress, angry or lose weight.
Boyo™️ Is for everyone.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Covid hit, it left a lot of businesses in despair. Covid had many of us asking tough questions, including raising very troubling outlooks for the survival rate of our businesses. As a result, I had to reevaluate my business and put myself, my family, my employees, and my clients first. So, we pivoted to outdoor boxing and fitness classes with plenty of social distancing. We got creative; we built outdoor boxing rings and training camps to ensure the safety of our staff and clients.
Any advice for managing a team?
My best advice is to make sure I lead by example, listen to my team members, and implement ideas that my team members have so they know I value them, their hard work, and their ideas.
