We were lucky to catch up with Alicia Shapira recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
To be impactful even to one person. To strive hard and never let anyone tear you down! I want to leave knowing this world that I empowered women to stand strong and no matter, race, size, ethnicity, age, economical status you can be successful as long as you believe in you.
I want to show my son, Aiden who is 3 years old that mommy worked so hard everyday for you, that I never want him to struggle in his life! I want to leave my legacy to him, I want to be proud of me!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My interest in permanent makeup started 11 years ago. I always loved makeup and the beauty industry, so I thought it was a perfect match for my new desired career. I was a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist and Cognitive Trainer with two of my very own schools that I owned and operated with over fourty employees. I enjoyed every minute with my patients at the time but really wanted to change my career path. Everyone thought I was foolish to make such a drastic change after all of my education and extensive training, but it was something that I just kept dreaming of. They say you can change your career at least 3 times in your life, I guess this was coming true for me. The thought of having to go back to school and start over was very scary but also extremely exciting at the same time!
Once I graduated Esthetician School, I knew I was ready to start doing Permanent Makeup classes, and open my own business immediately. I knew when I put that permanent makeup pen to my first client’s lips and brows, I had made the right decision. I have never looked back since!
New Image Beauty Bar is the result of my obsession with beauty, perfection, glam, helping others and the beauty industry as a whole. My teaching and education background has made for a smooth transition into the education side of the beauty industry. Not only do I love to educate others, but I am always learning and growing to be the top in the industry. I have helped thousands of clients in all of the procedures that I offer and their results have been outstanding. Hundreds of students have graduated from my beauty academy and have gone on to have extremely successful businesses, which is so incredible to watch. During my classes, I not only teach how to do the procedures, I also teach my students, marketing, finance, social media, correct paperwork, and many other aspects of the business. I pride myself on being their lifelong mentors!
New Image Beauty Bar was opened approximately 10.5 years ago and I have never been happier with my career. I have been featured on national television multiple times. Most recently, I was featured on the Emmy award winning tv show on CBS, “The Doctor’s” for my Brazilian Stretch Mark and Scar Camouflage procedure. I was the first artist to bring this procedure to the United States and it has changed the lives of thousands of people.
I have also been featured in segments on Deco Drive, Fox News, Yahoo entertainment, and over 100 different publications in the United States. I have created my own custom scar lightening and inkless serum that has changed the lives of so many struggling with insecurities. I love that I offer so many different procedures so I am never bored and always helping someone in some way.I am extremely passionate and grateful for my career and love helping my students and clients achieve their beauty goals
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was the first to bring this Brazilian Stretch Mark & Scar Camoflauge procedure to the United States, I trained over 1000 people. A lot of my past students take credit for their growth rather share who they train with. I’ve learned to not get angry and be more proactive, and less reactive. I also learned that integrity, and loyalty goes a long way in this industry. Just stay humble and do not let a few bad seeds tarnish your passion for the industry.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The thing I realized on social media is that you have to be authentic, genuine, and true to who you are as a brand. People follow you not the brand. Be honest and relatable, and people wanna follow you. It’s not necessarily how many likes it’s more of how you’ve impact somebody on social media. I’m not 6 foot two model skinny I am a real woman, mom, wife, sister, aunt, and daughter!
