We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shaana Worlds a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shaana , appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned what I have in the business of podcasting and becoming an entrepreneur through trial and error, researching and asking trusted sources for information and guidance, and really just trusting myself to know that of the many things I’ve done in this life, I’ve gotten quite a few right. So, why not continue trusting myself in these endeavors as well. In knowing what I know now, what I could’ve done to speed up the process would’ve been related to trusting that my idea was a good one before society “confirmed” it for me, not allowing outside life events to slow down my process or allow it to come to a complete halt, and being consistent. Consistency is really the name of this game because in being consistent you’re continuously learning and growing, your knowledge/audience/content is getting bigger and better, and your artistry gets or should be getting better with every piece of content you create as well. In my line of business, the skill I think is most essential is having a voice that sounds good through audio and a voice people want to hear over those waves. Also, creating a topic that you can talk about for an endless amount of time and one that more than just you are interested in. Lastly, being prepared to be engaged with your work, your listeners, and society so you can know what needs to be talked about on your docket. The only obstacle that I feel stood in the way of any of my success was truly ME! Anytime my business didn’t look like how I wanted it to, it was because I decided to slow down, step back, or all together stop what I was doing for various reasons. However, thank God for growth because I’ve vowed to myself to never get in my own way again.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My brand and business was created in 2018 when I had what I like to call my “relationship awakening” where I really tapped into gaining the knowledge of what I wanted my love life to look like and also when I finally understood my self worth and the value I would bring to the relationship that I desire detached from a specific partner or outcomes.
Once I started gaining REAL relationship education, because we really were not taught how to create and function in healthy relationships, I knew that it was now a requirement for me to share this information with the world. In 2019, I chose to have my voice be heard through the podcast I created, “To Be Single or Not To Be” and as a Relationship Enthusiast/Educator via my Instagram of Shaanah Montanna. The podcast is a weekly discussion of various relationship topics that cover the issues people are facing in love and relationships of all kinds, how we identify and navigate those issues, and lastly, how we overcome these obstacles so we can have better relationships in the future OR make a conscious choice to just continue being single if we feel the single life is better suited for us. Most importantly, my podcast is real life and focused on providing real resolutions for listeners. It is not a show that focuses on creating a “viral moment” or whatever the hot topic is on social media for the week. I know that my listeners are real people seeking real resolutions and we create full circle moments to ensure that is accomplished with every episode. Additionally, it is through these platforms that I am able to share what love should not look like through my own experiences and transparency, how to cultivate the love you desire when you are ready to put in the work (beyond just saying you are), and understanding that it is all a process that takes time, energy, and patience in combination with someone that actually likes YOU and is on the same page with creating the love you both desire together.
Presently, I’m proud of knowing that once I saw that people were really engaging with the knowledge and experiences that I was sharing, tuning into the podcast and online content heavily, and recognizing how passionate I was about all things “happy and healthy” relationships, it let me know that I was walking in one of my purposes and here we are with recently closing Season 4 of the podcast (Season 5 returning in 2023) and the launching of The Shaanah Montanna Youtube channel this year as well!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve built my social media presence from figuring out the one thing I want to talk about (relationships) and then talking about it non stop from a perspective and voice that comes natural to me which his humor/fun and making it fact based and being relatable. These days, we have the gift of reels and trending sounds on IG, so I like to take different sounds or scenarios and adjust them to real life situations I have been through. This makes the knowledge come across as natural because I’m telling a real life story while being able to (finally) laugh at my own pain; while still learning and growing in relationships as well.
So, my best advice is to figure out what your “thing” or niche (as they call it online) is, get consistent with your messaging, make sure you’re telling the truth because the people will know if you aren’t, and make it look good or entertaining while doing it.
My social media following grows consistently; but, only when I’m being consistent!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is just to get all these fine, intelligent, educated, and amazing women that want to be boo’d up or married in happy and healthy relationships by assisting them with the knowledge, guidance, confidence, and trust in themselves to know that it is possible one episode and one piece of content at a time.
I know wayyyyy too many women who want to be married and I believe can be happily married! However, we have some consistent work to do in order to be prepared for the relationship we’ve been praying for, to activate the spirit of discernment for the one we have not been praying for, and to sustain it in the relationship once we get it with the deserving partner.
If we can conquer this, through utilizing my platforms, with even half of the women I know then my mission will be well done.
