We recently connected with Diamond Holliday and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamond, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Lesson Learned Tutoring was officially founded by Diamond Holliday in 2021 in response to the growing need for exceptional individual instruction, specifically to the youth impacted by COVID 19. The COVID-19 pandemic introduced uncertainty in many aspects including education. For many, school closures and remote learning impacted student achievement.

Lesson Learned Tutoring is a 501(c)(3) educational services company with the mission to provide dedicated and focused instruction in order to foster academic strengths, cultivate
effective study skills, and instill a genuine confidence built on achievement.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Diamond H. is the Lead Tutor and a Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI) of Lesson Learned Tutoring. Services include providing tutoring for grades K-12 in subjects of math, reading or ELA and financial education that specializes in distilling money management concepts in a classroom setting.

When providing tutoring for grades K-12 in subjects of math, reading or ELA, we create individual learning plans based on measurable goals, and we keep the lines of communication open with teachers, tutors, and parents so that everyone can work together to help our students succeed.

Regarding financial education, the CFEI is administered by the National Financial Educators Council (or NFEC), Diamond graduated from the program in May of 2022. The instructor teaches techniques to lead financial literacy courses, workshops and lectures. The decision to embed financial education or financial literacy into Lesson Learned Tutoring services was an important factor being that it is not taught as a dominant subject in grade school but has such a powerful impact throughout the entirety of life.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Becoming an educational services company is very rewarding, there were many obstacles faced along the way. Lesson Learned Tutoring main obstacle was helping parents and students understand the importance of tutoring and rid of any doubts or myths. Many parents didn’t see the importance of one-on-one tutoring, especially before the pandemic.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Being passionate is the most important quality to my success. Lesson Learned Tutoring is passionate about impacting. We believe education is a critical part of creating progress and improving lives. We want our children to succeed academically and have all of the opportunities to do what will make them happy in life. We also want our children to have the confidence and genuine self-esteem that comes from working hard and achieving. When they reach hurdles that are too high for them, we don’t want them to become defeated and identify with failure. That is when a tutor can make an enormous impact on a student’s academic perception and success. A good tutor not only gives a student the tools that they need to be successful, but also gives them the confidence to overcome obstacles.
