We were lucky to catch up with Colt McIntosh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Colt, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I started TheFootyFactoryFL in 2018 with the goal of giving back to my community, to try and give players the opportunities I never had growing up in Central FL. Over the last four years I’ve watched countless clients become more confident on the soccer field, not only as a team player but also as individual players and that’s all I could ever ask for as a coach.
As I got older I realized how many basic fundamentals I missed out on, things that could have helped me in my growth overall. When I moved back to my hometown and started to coach I saw the opportunity and potential in small group private sessions. For those player’s truly driven to get better, I wanted to give back to them. Whether it’s an older client with the goal of playing in college, a club player trying to stay sharp for season, or even kids who have never played before looking to solidify their foundation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Growing up through my high school years my goal was singular, to play college soccer, I didn’t have other aspirations, I didn’t have a back up plan, It was “soccer or bust”. Unfortunately like a large percentage of players, I suffered a significant injury my senior year which changed everything. Not being able to continue my dream of playing soccer at a higher level was beyond hard, and I spent years jumping from job to job never truly feeling satisfied with my career choices.
I always continued to play for fun but it wasn’t until 2017 when I got the opportunity to coach at my local high school where things really started to materialize, and I fell in love with coaching! Being in a position to help others become more confident in their abilities was the most rewarding job I had ever had! As my passion for coaching grew, so did my ideas for how players in my area could always be improving. I realized nobody was offering any type of one on one or small group training locally, so I decided to give it a try.
The idea behind my training methods are simple, I want to build each one of my clients foundations from the ground up. We start with the basic fundamentals no matter what age or skill level, each week as their foundation solidifies the sessions will become more advanced. Not only do my sessions challenge you physically but also mentally. Soccer is controlled chaos for ninety minutes, “you must be comfortable with being uncomfortable”.
I never started TheFootyFactoryFL with the intention of it being my full-time job but, its funny how the world works. One client grew to five, five grew to ten, before I even realized the business had blossomed right in front of my eyes, and by 2020 we were able to get into our first indoor space. I’m so thankful for my job, I’m thankful I can give it all back to the next generation.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
When it comes to keeping in touch with my clients, I don’t just contact them to schedule sessions. I ask them about how life is, work, kids in school, upcoming celebrations, etc. Why? Because I care, their value to me isn’t in their money, it’s in our relationship. Being my true genuine self has gotten me more clients and brand loyalty then I could have ever asked for.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I have been referred to by more satisfied parents then any type of advertisement I have purchased over there last four years, got to love those “Soccer Mom” group chats!
