We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ariel Sutton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ariel below.
Ariel, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Sweet Bea’s Creations, LTD Co. was pushed into execution. I made a body butter for myself in May, 2021, because I wanted my legs to glisten in the summer. I was telling everyone it was a part of my “Turning 40 Kit”. Of course they laughed, but they asked me about the recipe. Then it clicked to write it down so I could even duplicate it for myself! In July, I found myself in a major production, and I was talking to different people about how I don’t use lotions anymore. Not to sell, but just a casual convo, and I was surprised at the response, they wanted to support me! Registering the company and making the butters is the easy part. The parts that I realized in the process were in the details of the presentation. I needed containers, labels, a logo, branding colors, a landing page, payment options, shipping and delivery options, a name, bags, and boxes! I needed sources for my ingredients in bulk. It was and has continued to be an exhilarating experience. I’ve gone to bed and awakened with thoughts of how to improve my business repeatedly. The name was created to pay homage to my Great-Grandmother, Beatrice. My family often refers to creativity as an extension of her so it was fitting. This business has become the perfect culmination of my life, work, and educational experiences in one place, and I’m enjoying it!
Ariel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ariel Sutton, and I am a Georgia native. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial and creative spirit, and my business was birthed by solving a problem for myself. Since launching, I have been made aware that I am not the only one with sensitive skin who still wants to be moisturized and smell good without heavy perfumes or chemicals. My product is all natural and handcrafted. The ingredients work for all skin types, and I’ve curated quality raw ingredients to make my products. I’ve seen it work wonders on dry skin, burn scars, and eczema. I believe what sets my product apart is that it was created to make an impact. I am proud of my the success and support that my business has received so far even without textbook marketing and promotion. It’s definitely been a God start, and I would be remiss not to acknowledge the grace and favor that has been poured out on me and this business.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn perfection. I had to unlearn relying solely on my own thoughts and operating without a team or supportive counsel. I had some key people to bounce ideas off of, and I paid attention to Holy Spirit. The obedience in waiting is not always to keep us from what we desire, but to make sure we are able to sustain the overflow that will come with it if done correctly.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2020, I made some major pivots. I moved back to my home state of Georgia, and I left corporate America. I planned to leave at some point, but I did not plan on a pandemic; however, God has provided and sustained all things concerning me. It was not the optimal time to make major life changes like this to the “regular person”, but it made so much sense to me, so I took my steps. It’s been the best decision that I’ve ever made for my peace of mind. It was the first time I had the chance to choose to fill my time with things I’m passionate about instead of having to decide for survival.
