We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trelyn Spencer . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trelyn below.
Hi Trelyn , thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Looking back now I didn’t expect that Fashion would be my lifelong passion. I don’t think it even started out as a hobby ………It just started. It seems like in life we live and then we die. In the middle of that we try to find our purpose and why we were made in the first place. I honestly feel like I’m where supposed to be. I started out thinking I wanted to be model, that later changed when I found out I had no control. Becoming a Stylist took convincing. I felt like Anna Delvey in a world of people who already had it together here I was a young 18-year-old with no clue. I started styling my friends and people I knew who would give me a chance. I used my Connections that I made in modeling world to get in the room to express my eagerness to style.
I remember my first celebrity client and the nervousness I felt to some It may Minuscule but to me it was make it or break it.
Year after year I see growth and I see failure. In this industry no one tells you “one day you’re in and the next day you’re out” and you have to continuously rebrand and reinvent yourself. After 5 years of being a freelance Fashion Stylist I am learning the importance of networking and collaborations are the key to running a successful business. Now that I am where I am now I don’t think I will ever stop!!! I have hit the brink of success and I want to see how far I can go.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I remember a time I used to look at social media and got envious of all the attention others would get. It seemed so hard to market myself or my business. I think the moment it clicked for me was actually seeing other people do what I already knew I could do. I just had to find a way to make it authentically me. I grew my social media by being an oddball, everywhere I went I made it a fashion runway. Going out in the public not looking socially like everyone else gets you a lot of attention people are either intrigued threatened or confused. I would post my outfit of the day every day I will follow up with being socially active. A lot of it also is networking and connecting with people who have a big following or has a better aesthetic than you. I don’t think there is anything wrong with positioning yourself to be around people who are on the same wave as you if that makes sense.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think something that illustrates my resilience is the fact that I’m still a contender. Life is a Crazy roller coaster full of twists and turns ups and downs and if you’re not willing to ride then you’re ultimately doomed. There was a time I felt starting that my business was mediocre that it wasn’t different it wasn’t special. Because I didn’t have a four year college education I thought I was unworthy. It took re-branding myself to understand the specialty in my styling versus other stylist.
